I'm just curious to get a ballpark figure for what most reception halls require as a deposit to book them. We are in the early stages, and of course will ask when we look at places... I just want to be prepared for what is usually requested.

Ours was $2600 (10% of the RH cost)....not in the Bahamas - but our original one here.

Ours was $1000 to hold the date. Then they wanted 20% within 30 days.

wow.. mine was a lot more!
we had to put down $500 to hold the date for two weeks, then we needed to put down a 25% deposit.

Mine was 2k for the initial deposit and then a payment schedule of 2k in three months and another 2k three months after that for a total of 6k in 6months (whew!!!) The remaining balance is due 45 days before the wedding.

I think us Crescent brides have a different story than most! My deposit was even a bit above yours! weddings are expensive!
