I'm just curious to get a ballpark figure for what most reception halls require as a deposit to book them. We are in the early stages, and of course will ask when we look at places... I just want to be prepared for what is usually requested.
Thanks.

Re: how much (ballpark) is a RH deposit?
Well mine was $2500 but all RHs are different... some I went to wanted 1k, some wanted more, some less... all depends on the place really... But to be safe, I'd put aside atleast 3k for it!
My hall wanted $1000 the day we signed the contract and another $2000 30 days later. Good luck!

It depends on the hall, the approx. size of your party, etc.

Re: how much (ballpark) is a RH deposit?
mine was $2500 only because I wanted an extra room and they needed the cost for the room(1500) in the deposit.

Mine too. They wanted $500, then 30 days later $1,000, then another $1,000 30 days after that. They had a payment schedule that we followed.

$1000.00 down and then another two scheduled payments of like $1500 within the next 6 months. Last two payments before the final payment are for the beginning of 2007.

They wanted $1000 and then every two months they want another $1000 until you have $5000 and then the final payment two days before the wedding but we can bring them $$ whenever we want. 'My boss will never turn away your money' is what our guy said... numerous times!
