how much did you or are you willing to spend on a dj? did it include any extras like plasmas, extra lighting? also who did you go with?

I booked in the mix- they matched the lowest price that I could find- definately shop around and try and get whomever you decide to book with to negotiate the price with you- good luck

We are getting a very minimal package - one DJ/MC doing ceremony & reception - about $900 (though we got a discount cuz he just did my gf's wedding). Here's their website:
these prices seem pretty good compared to what i have seen them charge in staten island/NJ

OMG I am thinking the same thing...I am paying 3100 for Bravura, and I am not getting any plasmas or fancy lighting!! I got a 1 man steel drum band for CH, the MC and DJ, and Precussionist for the Reception...and I think he is throwing in some lighting because we aren't using them for the CH which we originally booked for. I am thinking I should have shopped around more

we are in the same book.. lol 3650 for: cocktal hour 4 hour reception photo montage (4) 50' plasmas 12 uplighting around the room light show live singer 'crooner type' live photographer taking action shots and showing them on the t.v.s thru-out the night (all the pics on a CD at the end of the night too)
the music and food are my absolute biggest priorities.

I think for the quality & service you are gettting from starlight they are worth every penny... if music is the most important thing in your party i think it fine to spend a lil more on quality not quantity is fine...

It depends if you can afford it then No. I hear Starlight is awesome. I would love to be able to afford them but can't so I will probably end up with FM.. or something more cost effective.

my friend used starlight and i wasnt too impressed with them, everything seemed a lil 'clubby', not my style
i def wanna check out FM ent and see if they can give me a similar package

I am using htem too and are paying around that much also for the same stuff....you have to remember too that their equipt is not regular dj equipt - they dont have two turntables...LOL...they have really hi tech stuff ( I was worried about the price too but then when the fh saw everything he said it was a great deal)....We didn't get ripped off....and also they are amazing!!! (I have three friends that used them for their wedding and two more using them this year!)

The 'clubbyness' is prob cause your friend picked out the music for them to play. They perform based on each individual wedding....

I would def recommend going to see FM entertainment. They do have a package similar to the one you are looking for and the price may be a bit lower. FH loves lights but then spoke with Frank at FM who even said said since we are having a day wedding at VYC (all windows on water) then lights wouldnt be seen that well so it would be a waste of $$..AMAZING...never knew someone wouldn't try and sell me something I do not need.
Frank was great last night at the showcase.

So glad to hear that..when FH and i were deciding between a band and a dj (i originally wanted a band, FH, a DJ) i said to ask two of his friends what dj they used bc they were the only two that stood out to me, and they were both Starlight Express...then, we went to another wedding after booking them, and i loved the dj, not even noticing untill the end of the night that they were Starlight again! I guess it's definitely worth the money because they are awesome!!!
