I didn't even factor this in to our budget when we first got engaged! We are paying for EVERYTHING ourselves and I have no idea where we will get the money for this too!!! I am trying to find a reasonably priced place with good food and atmosphere. I am having the hardest time. Maybe I am being unrealistic so I just wanted to find out how much you, your parents or FH's parents spent on the RD. Thanks for your help girls!!

see if places will take cash and you can by pass tax!

i had mine at an italian restaurant. it was a semi-private room (other patrons were eating on the other side of the room but we had our own 'section')
i had about 30 people and it was about $17 per person including salad, bread, appetizers such as clams, mozz sticks, zucch. sticks, etc, choice of 4 dinners, veggies, wine and soda. it was unreal for the amount of money we paid!
my suggestions to you is don't go to a typical place. ours was a full restaurant, but i sacrificed a private room (you REALLY don't HAVE to have one) for a very low price. and they didn't automatically include tip (but we tipped them very well because it was great!)
so for 30 people my ILs paid about $600.

I'm having mine at Crystal Garden (chinese) and it's $18 pp. We are only inviting 20 people, but we'll see how many show up!

im having 40 people at BK Sweeneys in Bethpage. with tax and tip it will come to around $920. i think we got a great deal.

Pullleeeeeease. It's just a RD.
$20 PP at an Italian restaurant in NYC. Not including drinks (figure $5-10 pp for drinks). This is an early bird dinner, on a Saturday, in Midtown Manhattan. It shouldn't be hard to find a place outside for less $$$.

If you can't do it at your house, can you ask to have it at the house of a relative or someone in the bridal party? You can also cut costs by only having the BP there (no additional guests). Also, what area are you having the RD?

Mine was 3 weeks before the wedding, and FH's house. His mom and my mom catered it, and it was a lot of fun!
Since you wanted it at your mom's house - why not make it early - so that there is enough time to clean the house b4 the wedding. My mil wanted it at least 3 weeks earlier for the same reason - she didnt want to worry abt cooking and then cleaning a week or 2 before the wedding. I'm glad bc it was a lot of fun - and it was less stressful bc the wedding wasnt too close!

FH and I are not going to have a RD...we can barely afford our wedding as it is, and are not receiving any help from anyone...we we're just like SCREW IT!!!

ours was about 1300.00 and then another 800 for the open bar bill- it was by consumption... who knew people would drink so much at a rehearsal fortunately FIL paid the 1300...food and place- and BIL (best man) paid the bar bill

Ours is $21.95 a head and we will probably have 18-20 people plus 3 kids. We arent' sure if we are doing the extra $6 pp for beer and wine or just do pitchers since everyone isn't a drinker. I'm hoping for it to be $800 max. We are starting to get broke.
