I spent more on my photo/video package than planned, I figured I'd rather skimp in other areas than the things I will have after the day.
So, I'm trying to cut back on flowers... instead of big tall CP's I thought of doing floating orchids with candles... I think they are stunning and my colors are dark purple and I think it would look great, especially with all the chandeliers at Giorgios.
I know some girls were doing this.. Does anyone know how much a CP of about three vases of these would cost? I imagine much less than a tall arrangement.....

yea, i think the purple will tie in the purple of my BMs dresses and flowers nicely. and Giorgios had big beautiful chandeliers everywhere, I wanted to do something low anyway to avoid overkilling it. I think these are so stunning and different.

I am not sure but I am looking a making my own like that. I found vases like that at target for about $30 each. Then the stones or crystals, floating candles $2 each, and the flower itself. I think I may just order the flowers for the centerpiece with my bouquets but actually have my MOm and sisters put them together the day off. I think it end up being a lot cheaper. My friend told me they charged here about $100 for something like that. Seems way over priced. I can't imagine the flower itself being more than $15 so the whole thing if put together would cost about $50 instead of $100.... thats like half price.
This is all just my estimates... btw :)

yikes... $100 for that? Maybe I WILL make them myself.... oy.
Or maybe there is another pretty purple, less expensive flower than an orchid I could use. even though they were orchids I thought they would be cheaper.

yea, i plan to look around... i was just trying to get an idea before I made some appts. I am going to wait a little while on flowers anyway but wanted to put my dad's mind at ease after the photo/video cost.... lol
Thats the thing with those CPs...Its all glassware. Which gets expensive! AC Moore was having a 50% of sale the other day. Keep checking your local stores. You might have high costs for shipping if you order online (I'm not 100% sure though).
And I LOVE those!!!!!!!!!!!

I am looking into doing something similar due to costs. You can make them on your own for much cheaper like I said but I am not sure how much the florist will charge for the orchids or whatever flower you use and then you also have only a short time to do it. An alternative I was reading about is getting silk orchids and using them so you can make the centerpieces in advance. No one will know they are not real either b/c they are submerged in water.
Just some thoughts.

I was going to do something very similar but with 3 diff size glass cylinders and orchids and a floating candle, the florist I checked quoted me $65 per table and there were 3 cylinders. Hope this helps!

I met with With All My Heart located in the East Wind. But I might have been mistaken, I think instead of orchides that was a quote for floating calla lillys! Shoot, I'm sorry. I'm actually going to go back too bc I want orchids!!! Not sure which flower is cheaper. But I do reccommend them, the lady was very nice that I met with. Her name is Lenea.

hmm well callas are usually more expensive too so it will probably be similar anyway. east wind isnt too far from me- i didnt realize they had a florist??

Yeah they were pretty good. Prob gonna book them. I noticed you are getting married at Giorgios, that is close to the East Wind! The number is 929-1500.

BEAUTIFUL! Also might want to try Ikea for vases or Michael's-with a 40% off coupon of course! Love them! Those are one of my fave flowers!

We are doing two different CPs and one of them is the submerged orchids similar to the one you pictured. We are doing 2 tall cylindrical vases, 1 with green dendrobiums and 1 with pink mini cymbidium orchids. And surrounding the base are 3 small square vases each with orchids and seaglass in them. We are getting quoted $85 for this CP, but you could get cheaper by cutting out the square vases at the base and using a cheaper type of orchid (as mini cymbidiums cost a little more $$). HTH!!
