I usally give $100 p/p, so if i go w/ fh $200. If I don't really know the people (co-worker, friends sister, his friend), I only give $100 for the both of us.

I think you should at least try to cover your meal and give a little extra if you know them. If you don't really just try to cover your meal at least. jmo

after realizing how much it really costs to throw a wedding - regardless of relationship i do not go w/o giving a minimum of $250. (thats for me & FI)
It only goes up from there - good friend, family, etc. - the more i put in.

you really dont know what people are spending pp...at least I dont, i can estimate and assume but i really dont know...we have given anywhere from 200-300 but we have only been to friend's weddings so far... i am the last of my family to get married...besides the little ones (2nd cousins)

I like to at least cover the plate, which is at least $100 p/p. But I'm the kind of person who likes to give more everywhere, including tips at restaurants. And I figure most people will give back for your wedding what you gave to them.

After planning a wedding..i don't think someone can ever cover their plate!!! It cost too much!!! On average we would give 250.00 - 300.00 for a gift...but never under 200.00......unless it was a very casual small wedding....

Since weddings cost sooooooooo much now, we give $200 to most people, but to friends and family anywhere from $300 - 500.

In college we would give $125 for both of us b/c that was all we had. Now it's a minimum of $250. For people we're closer with we'll give $300 -$400 ..it really depends on our finances at the time.

If we didnt know a couple very well i would rather not go, and send them a gift then not attempt to cover our plate, especially after seeing how expensive it is to plan a wedding...
what we have been doign is:
for coworkers: $250
friends: $275
Really close good friends: $300
