Re: how much do you give these days???
It depends how close you are to the people. If you are very close, I would give 400. That's just me. Why don't you just give what you can afford? That seems the MOST sensible.

Make me your 'close' friend, and you got it baby! Haha. I don't know what that was supposed to mean, but haha.

$300 - only because if it is a close friend I would have given at least that and more at the shower -

Hey, I said 'very' close! Not just 'close'. Regular close gets you 200 bucks

What about if you can't make it to the weddidng? Do you still give the same amount as if you attend?

Re: how much do you give these days???
I know that many people don't believe in covering the plate, but my family is very careful to give a gift that covers the plate per person and then a bit extra so that the couple is actually receiving a 'gift' not just getting money back on a plate - my family is far from rich- just very geberous and feel that it is proper ettiquette to at least cover the cost of the plate. I say somewhere between $300 and $400 per couple. JMO!!!

Re: how much do you give these days???
Um, Lori, with all the responsibility that goes into being a BM, you get ME as your gift! But then again, I'm priceless, so it might be to your advantage to make me a BM!
As for if I can't attend, we send usually 100. That's when we're cheapies

Re: how much do you give these days???
I would give $250 to a friend. For family they get $400-500 But that is me and what I can afford.

Re: how much do you give these days???
Rachel actually if you think of it - you arent a cheapie- because when you go - the $$ covers the plate first - and anything over is a gift. When you dont go - the $100 is a pure gift.

Re: how much do you give these days???
We are going to a wedding this weekend and we are giving $200.. that is all we can afford, planning a wedding of our own.. I wish I had $400.. that is extremely nice, if it was my sister or best friend, I would consider $400
