So in a few weeks, it will be FH's and I's first wedding that we go to together. It will be my first wedding since i was like 15 or 16 (so I don't remember a lot of details). What's the normal amount that's left in an envelope? We're very close to them, so were thinking of a gift + money, but not sure how much. Any ideas? Also, FH is best man at the wedding in case that makes a difference

FH has been in grad school, and architects don't make a ton....so for close friends we've been giving between $150 and $200, everyone else gets like $120-$150

I always give cash and i tell them so they can take it w them on the honeymoon. Id give $250

our best friends just got married a couple of weeks ago... FH was a GM and I was a BM.. we have been friends with the couple for years... even before they were dating... we gave 500 BUT our normal gifts will range anywhere from 200-400.

We normally give 300. The last wedding we went to was for FHs best friend (our best man) and we gave 500.

For people we are not close with we give $250, so if you are very close I would say at least $300. Weddings are pricey, cant wait for it to be my turn

We normally give $300-350 depending on how close we are with a couple.
FH was a GM in his best friend's wedding and he gave him $700

i always give $250 for the couple unless we have to travel to go to the wedding, then I give $200.
if they're close friends or we're in the bridal party, then i give $300-500.

When I was single I usually gave $150 if it was a good friend. As a couple we've had 4 weddings together (1 his cousin, 1 his boss and 2 my friends) We each do on behalf of both when it's 'our' person. One friend I gave $200 and the closer one I gave $250 from both of us but attended solo because my mom was ill and I had no one to watch my daughter.
