from my experience you are right. typcially the deposit was 500 for most of my vendors. dj was the only one who asked for a little more.

From my experience, your range seems about right but it does depend in some cases what your total is.

the hall - we put $1000 down
the band - they wanted $1500 down
photo/video - $500 each

I guess it depends on your vendors - and how much they cost you ..

The hall asked for $1500 (I actually just sent in my 2nd $1500 payment yesterday!!)
photog/video - I think it was about $800
dj - $1200
minister - $50

That's all that I've gotten through so far.

RH -- the hall had its payment schedule. $1000 to reserve the date; $2000 by the third month, $3000 six months prior to the date; and the rest is due towards the wedding date.

Photographer -- $300

DJ -- $200

Florist -- $200

Officiant -- $150

Good luck!!

For me it was $750.00 for the hall, the band and the photo/video (same vendor). My flowers will be 20% so I am thinking about $200 max on that.

Hmm let me think...
Hall $1500
Band $2000 (Dios Mios!)
Photog $400
Flowers 20%
DOC $200
Priest $100
Ceremony Music 2/3rd's which I thought what kind of an odd amount
So far that's it..I think!

Whatever the requirement was, I would put down a few hundred more; usually 50% of the bill for photo, dress, and limo. Better to not get stuck with several large bills in the end.
