What is the customary % to tip the M'aitre D or the Birdal Attendent? I have a 'service charge' that takes care of the other people.

The average tip for a Maitre D is $2-$4 per person.

We gave a lump sum that sounded right in comparison to our total bill. I think they say anywhere form $2-5 per person is average.
I had the service charge but I still gave an extra tip for the waitstaff and bridal attendant. My mom is in the business and I know not all places give that service fee to the staff and they live on tips.

If you are my catering hall (John Anthony's) you demand a $500 maitre'd charge....

Thrilled, what do you mean demand? Is it in the contract or is that what they expect? In my contract, it says the M'aitre D tip is completely optional. I will defintely give them something, but I want them to make sure everything is perfect for that money.

We have to pay $500 Maitr'd fee...it's in our contract.
Nicey...how did you tip them all? Individually? I used to work for a caterer and I KNOW they don't get the 18%
