Re: Winter Survey: oil tank?
We've only had one oil delivery-last week. When we moved in to our new house and signed a contract with oil co. the rep told us that they automatically deliver oil. We were down to about a 1/4 of a tank last week, and -bingo- they delivered.
We set the thermostat for 65 when we are not home.
HTH!

Re: How much does a new above ground oil tank cost?
I think my parents paid about $300 for their above ground oil tank...is was 275 gallons (that doesnt go very far...they had 2 put in!!)If you need a name of a good company to install for you, let me know. We have been dealing with this company for YEARS and they are wonderful. they did our gas conversion over the summer and it looks beautiful!! I guess if you like the look of boilers.

Sure has!!!As John was shovelling like a mad man this past weekend, every neighbor who saw him said 'welcome to owning a home' after the 10th time, John was not so happy about it! haha!

I get that all the time! Our neighbors said the exact same thing to us after the snow storm.

Re: How much does a new above ground oil tank cost?
Boy- do I know the answer to this!We had an inground oil tank abandoned and filled with foam- the more expensive but less invasive of the choices. We then had a new outside oil tank put in above ground. We also had to get a shed around the oil tank to protect it. All said and done: $2220 !!!! The shed cost around 400. If you have an inground tank you have to have it abandoned properly. But there is a tax credit- I think 500$ We used Suburban Oil- they were very efficient. Let me know if you need anymore information...we did a lot of research on this!

Re: How much does a new above ground oil tank cost?
This happened to us too. Our underground tank would not pass a pressure test so it had to be replaced with an above ground. By the time all was said and done it would have cost us over $4000. Instead we decided to switch to gas heat. We got a brand new furnace, new hot water heater, the installation, and the old tank filled with sand and capped and it cost us $3000. We also took advantage of Keyspan's offer of 0% financing. Our gas bills have been way less expensive than our oil bills had been so the system has pretty much paid for itself over the last 4 years that we have had it.Welcome New Vendors
