How much does your open bar cost?

How much does your open bar cost?

I didn't want this at first, but now considering, how much does an open bar typically cost for 1 hour cocktail hour and 4 hour reception?

I want an idea before I ask the caterer.

I have no idea, I have an open bar with probably every drink one could think of, but my RH was slick and included it in the price to have my reception there. I suppose drinks will cost almost as much as the food will.

Ours is $6 a person and we have to buy and supply the booze (our RH doesn't have a liquor license. So due to this fact I am doing like 5 signature drinks (Wrightini, Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue) and having beer, wine, the normal a couple whiskeys, vodkas, rums, the basic instead of going all out with all the schnapps and things.

Ok I edited this because well. I was half awake when I typed it and didn't realize it was ALL F'd up!!!

how can you serve the liquor if your RH doesnt have the license? i only ask cause mine doesnt either so we're only having beer and wine and champagne

I think it falls under the BYOB rule ... if the 'restaurant' doesn't have liquor license you can bring your own, but I'm not 100% sure.

Our vineyard is super easy going and they said, yeah sure, whatever. They aren't even making us buy their wine.

But we like their wine :D We just want our guests to have options they are used to.

Personally I am not sure they do however employ a bartender and I know i had to pay for Security if we were having a bar. I actually didn't ask but FH says it has to do with it being a private function and them not selling to the public or something. Liquor laws here in Ohio are weird.
