How much for alterations?

ok i just went for my first fitting and the lady said that it would be $250 but i talked her down to $200, i didn't take it where i got the dress, i brought it to a tailoring place in centreach. Is that too much for alterations.

I got my dress at Davids and brought it to a bridal salon. They capped the alterations at $200, but I havent picked up the dress yet, so I don't know how much it will be. I needed very little done.

It depends on how much work they have to do to the dress...
Alot? Not alot?

I don't think 200-250 is alot at all....I am actually planning to have to spend more b/c my dress is very intricate with alot of lace....

I also got mine at David's and am not having them do the alterations. (I was nervous because the service wasn't great, I didn't want to leave my dress there again!) If you went to the place you mentioned in Centereach and weren't happy with or unsure about the price, there is a tailor that I use not too far away in Coram. Her name is Filomena. The name of the place is Filomena's Dressmaking on Rte 112 just north of where it crosses Rte 25. She's been there forever, doesn't charge too much, and does a wonderful job. I will be bringing my dress to her when the time comes. Her number is 631 732 7880.

I'd paid (in cash) $150.00 for alteration on my gown and veil. It was very reasonable. The bridal salon where I bought my gown at Estelle's Dressy Dress does not do alterations in house but recommends. It worked out well.
