On a catering hall? I am totally in the dark about this kind of stuff. Was just wondering if we should even start looking at catering halls if we dont even have enough money for a deposit?

I think mine was two installements of $1000.

One to hold the date & then one with the contract I think.

Mine was 10% down, 10% 6 months later and the bal was due 12 days before the event.

My sister was 10% down, then 10% 6 months later and every month after that.

Usually they ask for about 10% of the total. So lets say they give you a total of $100 per person (including tax and gratuity) for 100 people, that comes to $10,000. Your deposit would be $1000. It depends on your hall.
