I know I paid 200 a week for full time care (this was about 4 years ago), that was drop off anytime after 7:30am and pick up by 6pm, my sister in law pays around the same, it gets pricy that much I do know

Re: How much is daycare?
I paid $150 a week for a daycare/preschool. That was for 5 full days, and it was a privately run place. However - I know it gets really pricey, I did get lucky.

I am concerned about this as well. I work at Hofstra, which has there own daycare and its $15,000/ year per child! I thought that was outrageous, so I am going to have to look around for somewhere local, that is not as expensive! You would think they would give their employees a bit of a break!

Re: How much is daycare?
We have tutor time down as one of our options....they have a 2-day, 3-day or 5-day a week plan. The 5-day a week plan is just over $250 week for 8am - 6pm. You can pay extra $$ for earlier drop off or later pick up.
We are exploring ALL of our options before we decide!

Re: How much is daycare?
There are many times that women are working to pay for daycare...and very little else. But also remember that you are NOT contributing to a 401K or social security while you are not working- which can hurt your retirement plans. You will be in a different tax bracet also so your husband's check may increase. Minus your commute costs and if you need to use a dry cleaner and wear suits- you will save that money. But you will add a bit for mommy/me or those type classes.
