Re: how much is everyone tipping their maitre'd???
Noooooo!!! That's WAY too much. Unless you are having 500 people at your wedding! The norm is 2 bucks per guest. 150 people = $300.

Re: how much is everyone tipping their maitre'd???
I was told the typical is $1 to $2 per person, depending on your satisfaction, so that is what I am going with.

Re: how much is everyone tipping their maitre'd???
Don't know the standard, but for our reception at John Anthony's last year, they told us the tip was up to us, but had to be between $300-$500 ... if I recall the numbers correctly. I forget what we ended up giving .. but it was kind of nice being told what range to hit within .. no worrying about being too cheap or too overboard.$800 sounds like too much, unless maybe you're not having the 'normal' type of reception of a Cocktail hour, plus 4-hour reception.

Re: how much is everyone tipping their maitre'd???
At our hall...the maitre d and bridal asst are not included in the service charge/gratuity...at first I was a little annoyed about the tipping...but on the wedding day...I couldn't believe how fabulous everyone treated me...I was throwing money around...
I tipped...$400 maitre d (150 guests)
$200 bridal assistant...
in actuality they both helped me so much...I don't know why one gets more...I did not have to do ONE thing the whole day...

Re: how much is everyone tipping their maitre'd???
I agree with what yabbobay said. We were treated so well that we were tipping like there was no end to our wallets. We gave our maitre'd a mininum of $500, and bridal attendant $200 (can't remember exactly, as it was over a year ago, and our best man tipped on top of what we gave.)Welcome New Vendors
