Re: How much is rent for those who did?

I had the steal/deal of a lifetime.... I paid $650 per month, utilities included, AND central AC for the entire second floor of a 2-family house in Rockville Centre. Parking in the driveway. 6 closets. Full bathroom with tub. Huge bedroom, kitchen and a living/dining room combo. Old lady downstairs, never a bother! I never knew how good I had it. I lived there from 1995-2001, when I moved into the house I bought with my boyfriend (obviously now my DH). I couldn't let the apartment go to waste, so when I moved out, my brother moved in. He's still there.

Re: How much is rent for those who did?

We pay $1000 a month, everything included, for a pretty big 2 BR, Kitchen/LR combo, 1 bath basement apartment. It was only about 3 years old when we moved in.

We took it on the spot after looking at about 45 crappy apartments that were much more expensive for nothing like what we have now.

Trying to save for a house though is a whole other story.

We pay $1470 plus $60 for parking. We have 3br, 2.5 bath, Dining Rm, Den, Living room. It's such a beautiful apt, we have a downtown view of the Chicago skyline from the living room and all the bedrooms overlook lake Michigan.

Re: How much is rent for those who did?

We're looking to rent our downstairs apartment of our house for $1400. It's a big one bedroom with EIK, full bath, patio and 2 driveway spots. Oh, it's in a really nice residential area of White Plains.

Everybody always asks me that! Trouble is, my brother is unsure how long the apt will be his, because the old lady is getting old, is alone, and recently broke her hip. My brother is dreading the knock on the door telling him they are selling the house because the lady is going to a nursing home. I told him to buy the house, rent the apt. and he could get $1000+ for it, easily!

Re: How much is rent for those who did?

$950/month for a one bedroom apartment in Forest Hills. We have a small kitchen with lots of cabinet space but NO counter space, and new appliances. We have a large living room and small foyer area where we have a kitchen table and chairs. We have LOTS of closets. We have 2 AC units. All utilities included except electric. Our apartment is rent stabilized, but we paid a huge broker's fee.

We actually pay $2500 in Manhasset for two bedrooms and one bath. Hence, the reason why we bought a house.

Re: How much is rent for those who did?

We are paying $1100 in the Cobble Hill area of Brooklyn. I love it here, it is an awesome area. We have a very big floor thru 1 bedroom plus den (in reality an alcove). The only kicker: it is a very old poorly maintained brownstone so we need new floors, new kitchen etc..... Things DH and I are unwilling to do since we are only renting.

I had almost the same deal except mine was $625 in N Massapequa!!! I didnt pay for any untility except for phone. I had my own A/C unit that cooled my apt....I had a full eat in kitchen, large living room and a HUGE bedroom!!! Then my landlady dies and her rotten son (her daughter lived with her) that NEVER did anything on the house,,,,barly visited his mom, decides that he is going to 'spruce' up the house a little and then sells it, leaving his sister to find somewhere else to live!!! She died in Jan the house was sold by July!!
