How much is too much?

I'm really racking up the posts today!!! It was a slow day at work and I came up with tons of questions...

How much is too much to ask someone to pay for a bridesmaid dress?

JMO I think anything over $150. You have to factor in the alterations (if need), shoes, accessories, hair, etc.

I know that the place that I am getting the girls dresses is the saem place that I got my dress from and they are offering teh girls either 10 or 20 percent off (cant remember which one) so maybe doing something like this will lessen their cost and make it one less thing for you to worry about.

i think it really depends on the financial standings of your girls... but anything over $200 is a bit high imo... like the pp said, dont' forget to factor in accessories, shoes, purse, etc..

I think it really depends on the style of wedding you're having... like if it's black tie, your girls will probably be in long dresses, which are of course more expensive and I'm sure they'd understand that.

My ultimate maximum limit is $200. If the dresses are above that or at that price, I may pay a bit towards each girl's dress.

I figured between $150 and $200 would be reasonable... of course the Watters dresses that I LOVE are in the mid $2's... maybe I'll just pay the difference if I can't find anything else...

You can try getting them online if you're comfortable with something like that. Try houseofbrides.com or perfect bridal. The Jim Hjelm dresses that I absolutely love are almost $300 in real life but on the site they are like $200.

You just made my night!!!! I just checked houseofbrides.com and they have the dress listed for $180!!! That is $80 less than normal!!

I think it depends on everyone's situation....

When I was in my best friends wedding we paid 140 + alterations + shoes. This came to about $200 and no one had a major problem with it. 2 girls were a little tight with the $, but nothing that was pressing.

I'm aiming for not going over $200 as well.

the dress i chose is 230.

honestly, if any1 has a problem with it.. tough shyt. i go above and beyond for every1 else no matter what it is. on top of that, i plan on giving my bms very expensive gifts. if any1 gives me a problem then i will most certainly reconsider the gifts.

i know if u dont know me personally and what im going through, u will think im a tad harsh.. but BELIEVE ME..with my situation NO ONE should give me lip. lol

My dresses came to 162-185. The girls seemed good with it. I was nervous it was too much at first though.

Having been a bridesmaid in the past, I don't want my bridesmaids to spend anymore than $150.

$150 is the average price for a BM dress.

I think it really depends on the financial situation of your girls.

I think I'm going to try and keep just the dress at $150 or under. Maybe a little more.
