Before I even started looking, I asked my BM's what they COULD afford. It made my job easier and helped them relax about cost.

i thought over 150 is too much... but my bms insisted on the 185 dollar dress that we all loved... it depends on the dress, the bms, and the circumstances

Just ask them. They will appreciate your openness, and you wont have to worry.

When I was a BM in my best friend's wedding, we paid $250 for our gowns AFTER alterations. I would like to keep it around or under this price as well.
While we do have to remember that as BM's they'll also be paying for shoes, hair, (maybe) makeup, etc., we also need to remember that we'd do the same if it were any one of us as a BM. I know I went above and beyond for my best friend's wedding and I was willing to do whatever it was she wanted. I would expect the same from my girls. It's part of taking on the roll of a bridesmaid. JMO.

i was orginal only going to look for a dress under $200 but the dress my sister (MOH)and i fell in love with was $330 one of my other Bm also came with us and she wanted it as well. I felt really bad when i told the other girls but they have been really go so far we go May 30 to put the deposit down, i am also taking them out to lunch two weeks after that.

You can try getting them online if you're comfortable with something like that. Try houseofbrides.com or perfect bridal. The Jim Hjelm dresses that I absolutely love are almost $300 in real life but on the site they are like $200.
You just made my night!!!! I just checked houseofbrides.com and they have the dress listed for $180!!! That is $80 less than normal!!
Yay! Glad I could help! I am probably going to go this route as well because I love my Jim Hjelm dresses too much to give up on them lol. I am bringing all my BMs to a store for them to try it on and see how it looks on them and then I will probably order them online. I am not 100% in this decision, but I want to save my BMs as much money as I can.

I think that is exactly what I plan on doing... See how they look on the girls and then tell them they can order them online. I would feel kind of bad making them pay that much for a dress when now I know they can order them through that site for much less!!!
I probably won't be taking them dress shopping until sometime in the fall or late summer when my cousin in is town from Boston so if you go sooner than that and order them online let me know how it goes!!

IMO - I would pay whatever the bride told me too. This is my contribution to the wedding and I know things are expensive. My BM dresses were expensive but I love them, and I asked each of my girls if that was ok with them.

the original dress i liked was $189 but with the discount it was like $170 which no one had an issue with. But im going to buy them their bag and probably pay for their mani & pedi - so i dont think its that bad. The girls wanted a re wearable dress so the new one that i found is a re wearable dress i just dont know how much the dress is yet .....![]()

Yes but my dress place is the bridal suite of bayshore - they are not that accomodating..... but im going to try. Im going to go there today.... the girls are going the 16th to order the dresses.

Under $200 is the most reasonable. But in the end, you know your BMs better and that makes a difference in the price (if they have jobs..struggling w/ money, etc)
