Re: How much is too much for a bridesmaid dress?
Well it depends, really when choosing a bridesmaid gown I just think the bride should choose the most economical gown that she likes. Being in a Bridal Party cost a lot of money. After all the shower gifts, the b party the dress, the shoes, the tab runs up. When I choose my bms gowns I tried to choose something everyone could afford. Its a dress they probably wont wear again so I definitely can't see spending a lot of money on it.

I guess it depends on who is in your bridal party but I'm trying to keep mine at $200 or less.

i would say it depends on the financial situation each person is in...and just general circumstances....as well as even color/fabric/and potential to rewear.

Re: How much is too much for a bridesmaid dress?
My BP dresses are 180. That doesn't include alterations. And I'm letting THEM decide what shoes they wanna wear. I asked for red (to match the dresses) but that's it. If they wanna find a cheaper pair at Walmart, i really don't mind. Just as long as they match I trust 'em

I think $200 is the max that I'd ask anyone to spend. My girls paid $180 for theirs.

Re: How much is too much for a bridesmaid dress?
I wanted to keep mine lower then what I did, but both my MOHs said that it was still a good price... sooo... I went for it. Also, it's a dress that they CAN wear again...to other weddings and such... it was 150 with 10% ...

I'd like to keep it under $200 for my girls. My Bridesmaid is my FSIL who is 17. I think we are going to have to pay for FSIL dress cause she may be going to college & working part time when it comes time to buy the dress.

That is something that your FMIL should pay for I am having 3 of my sisters as BM in my BP who don't work and my mom will be paying for there dresses

Re: How much is too much for a bridesmaid dress?
I set a limit of $120. By the time sizes and heights were taken into account, some girls ended up paying $170. Before alterations. I could not fathom asking them to pay any more than that.

Re: How much is too much for a bridesmaid dress?
I'm in the minority here...but I really think with all the expenses involved in being a BM, over $150 is too much. Honestly if I was asked to pay $200 or more I might decline, depending on how close I was to the bride...IMO it's too much to ask someone in this day and age...my sisters and SIL paid less than $100. The dresses were beautiful (and on sale). JMHO!!!

Re: How much is too much for a bridesmaid dress?
it really depends on who is in your bridal party. I'd say anything under $200 is pretty reasonable/standard. Anything $275 and up is borderline unreasonable unless you know your girls are cool with it
My bridesmaids were all students or new teachers, none were rolling in the dough, and i tried to keep the dress cost down. It was $160+ alterations and they were all OK with this.
I'd be OK with paying more for a dress I really liked, but chances are that bridesmaids wont wear the dress again so just try to minimize the damage
