Hi Girls. Fell in love with a bridesmaid dress that is $200 (not including alterations). I am worried my girls are going to complain.
I just wanted to get a range of how much a bridesmaid dress costs, as I have never been a bridesmaid so I have no idea!

dont worry 200 is more than fine... if your bridemaids complain explain to them that you will help them sell them after the wedding on ebay, craigslist etc. I just sold 3 of my bridesmaid dresses online and got more than half than what I paid.
PS let girls do thier own alterations, cleaners charge 75 less than a seamstress and they do the SAME EXACT JOB and in half the time!

The girls are getting their dresses from David's Bridal and they get to pick the length and style (I chose the color and material). The tea length dresses are $105 w/out alterations and the long ones are $145 w/out alterations.

Where are you getting them from? Maybe try somewhere like RK Bridal with the no frills program you might be able to get them cheaper. Also, I lot of the time the store you bought your dress from will give your bridesmaids a percentage off their dresses.

my girls dresses were just ordered 2 days ago the final price w/tax no alterations was $168 and I managed to get a 20% discount for all BM's so the price would have been much higher

The BMs are about ankle length...they are 150 each... not including alterations... And the 2 MOHs are 170 each...floor length. They are telling me it's not a bad price...so thank you that they aren't complaining...YET! lol. I am having them go to a dry cleaners as well...to save. And, that idea to help them sell it after the wedding sounds great! The ones that will eventually complain I will say that to! ha.

The dresses I picked were 155.00 and then because I bought my dress there they gave 20.00 off to the BP. So they were about one forty something with tax and without alterations. I think 200 is average.

i would look online first ... sometimes you can get a better price at RK Bridal in the city ... all you need to get are the girls measurments ... and i would totally tell the girls to bring them to a cleaner or some little italian lady some where to alter them because bridal stores just charge WAY too much for the same job!

I think mine will be a little less than $200 after alterations and everything. But I'm letting them wear whatever shoes they want and they don't have to have their hair or makeup professionally done if they don't want to - so that will save them some money.

I'm trying to keep the costs low for my girls. We are planning on having them get their dresses from DB and the ones that I've found that I like range from about $110-$135 w/out alterations. And they could probably just get their alterations done at a dry cleaners to save them some money.

do you think i can bargain the price a little? I am getting my dress, my moms dress, fh's moms dress there too. they only took like $10 off. should i try for more??? i HATE negotiationg, im so bad at it and always feel bad asking!!
