Hi Girls. Fell in love with a bridesmaid dress that is $200 (not including alterations). I am worried my girls are going to complain.
I just wanted to get a range of how much a bridesmaid dress costs, as I have never been a bridesmaid so I have no idea!

Mine I think are like 165 but what I did was to call all the stores in my area that carried the designer and then go with the cheapest place

I think you can DEFINITELY bargain the price!!! Are you ordering the dress from your bridal salon? If not, did you know they probably can offer you a 10% discount right off the bat?
As for me, I am spending $200 and alterations should be $50 or so. Considering most evening gowns cost about that much, I think it is a good price.

My girls dresses are $230 NOT including alterations. They were fine with it. You should check with your girls to see if it is too much for them.

with the shawl and dress my girls were $128 but some had to get longer and bigger sizes so that had to cost more

I'm in a wedding this weekend and my BM dress was $300 BEFORE alterations!! I was pizzzzzed. But the bride offered to help pay for them since they were so expensive. I'm going to try to sell it after this weekend as well!

My BM dress for my sisters wedding was $349 it was a Vera Wang bm dress. I'm leaning with a dress from Vera Wang too for my bm dresses.

My girls have dresses by Impression Bridals, they were originally $185, but since I have 9 girls and a flower girl getting their dresses from there, they gave us $20 off, so it's $165 plus tax which ends up to be $179, there's an $85 cap for alterations and all of my girls seem to be okay with it.

Mine are 167 but, we were thinking of doing the no frills with RK bridal....they will be @128 but, not sure if we are willing to go that route.

Mine were 197 for one and 220 for one... I originally didnt want the girls to spend over 150.00 but once I started looking around it was hard to keep that range. I would talk to each girl and ask them what the most they can afford, and if you insist on a dress way out of there budget then offer to help them pay for it. I honestly dont think people calculate how expensive weddings are when they say yes

Where are you getting them from? Maybe try somewhere like RK Bridal with the no frills program you might be able to get them cheaper. Also, I lot of the time the store you bought your dress from will give your bridesmaids a percentage off their dresses.
thats what i did, i went to rk bridal...The dress everybody liked cost about $258 that was without tax and without alterations, but through their no frills program the dress came out to $186 so that was a huge discount...My moh saved even more bc her dress cost about the same as bm dresses and through no frills it came out to $160-something
they carry a large variety of BM dresses, all the popular bm dress designers. So its very possible they have the dress you love and can get the same one for less

Mine are $198 +tax and alterations. I wanted to stay right around $200. If you are going with a typical BM designer try Here Comes the Bridesmaid in the city. They will give you a discount based on how many dresses you are ordereing

I'm in my cousins wedding in 2 weeks. this is dress she picked (in this color), it was $260 and alterations were capped at $70.
The wedding plaza is great they worked with me on the price.

about $350 from Jenny Yoo - my girls are only paying for alterations bc they were so expensive. My parents are paying for the dress bc my sister liked it the best (and she is my MOH)

At my bridal salon, the Bill levkoff dress was $230 and my girls get 20% off. While I was shopping for MOB dress, I saw the same dress for $205. I called RK and they were selling the dress for $150. I brought this to the attention of my salon and they lowered the price to $175 for my girls, not including tax and alterations!
Definetly NEGOTIATE! My girls really appreciated it.
