How much is your FH involved in planning?

Original post by MrsP2Be

My FH is showing little to zero interest in helping me..I mean he doesn't even want to go to the vendors because 'I'm not paying so I don't have any say.' I think that's something my FFIL has planted in his head.

It's frustrating to the point where my parents are worried if he even wants to go through with this.

What is your situation?

My FH wants to be involved in picking out the vendors - photographers, DJ, flowers, etc. As for all of the extras - favors, menus, placecards, etc. He said that I can do whatever I want. He's not too interested in all of the little 'details'.

Mine is the same way, I told him I would handle the flowers, since it's a 'girly' thing, and he said yes, but they're for the wedding.

He has come with me to every appt, and we have talked about it a lot, however when it comes to small and girly details, he doesn't even want to know about it!!

Well I had a nice long talk with him and I feel a lot better. He will go wherever I need him to. Thanks for letting me vent.

My FH seems to want to be involved with every thing and any thing...LOL He has helped with all of the main vendors so far and is into all of the fine planning as well....he even wants to be involved when it comes to picking out the colors. I was actually joking around with him tonight and asked if he want to come bridesmaid dress shopping with us. Of course that he says no to....but as far as every thing else goes, he's been well involved!!

He's interested in everything but he only has time to be involved over the summer. Once fall comes, back to law school he goes and I'm on my own again.

He's pretty much laid back about everything, but he goes on all appointments I make nad sometimes show a lot of interest, and sometimes non existant. It varies, I guess, but he is involved.

My FI is involved, not overly involved but enough for me most of the time. Basically, I go out and scout things out with my sister (MOH) and mom. Then when it gets our stamp of approval, we bring in my FI and Father (my parents are helping us out big time.) Ultimately, it's up to me and FI but for the most part his attitude is 'this day is more about you than me, so if it makes you happy then I'm happy.' Will he sweat what color the ribbon on our favors will be? No, but when it comes time to decide on the big stuff like our HM or the menu, he will be there helping.

I think the final say on the reception hall will be as involved as he gets. Maybe booking the music - since we are music freaks. Other than that, not at all.

On a sidenote, Have you ladies seen that commercial...'If you had nothing to do with the planning of your wedding, You are a Mitchum Man' As if deodorant had to play a role in the males collaboration of the wedding
