If my mom paid more than $500 for her dress I would be very disturbed.

i think both spent somewhere between $400 and $600...but I didn't ask specifics to find out.
My mother did fall in love with one dress that was $2000, but it only came in black and she didn't want to wear black to my wedding...it was gorgeous though!!!!!

Both my mom and MIL spent a little over $2000 for their dresses. Crazy? Yes. Although and i'm not kidding, my mom and I went to 17 different stores for her to find a dress. She is hard to fit and we tried on hundreds of dresses for her. Of course the one that was expensive fit her best!! But she looked BEAUTIFUL!

Re: How much is your mom paying for her dress?

My mom gave me a $1500 budget for my dress, which wound up being $1200. She's looked at a couple of dresses in bridal salons that were WAY more expensive than my dress, but I really don't care. She hasn't decided on anything and I just want her to feel beautiful and comfortable in anything she wears. I don't think that she will spend more than we spent on my gown when she makes a final decision, but it's up to her. She now feels a little bad about the budget she gave me, but I love my dress, I wouldn't have chosen anything else no matter how much my budget was.
