There is also a book you can get, actually it's more of a magazine and it has lots of information. I think it's called reception halls or something very basic like that. It have NYC, including the boroughs, LI, Upstate, and more I think.

Would you consider Brooklyn? The Palm House in the Botanical Gardens is gorgeous. It was too rich for our blood.

Um, we have a budget of $40,000 but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. Really depends on how many people show up. 170 on the list, but expecting about 140 since a lot are OOT. $118 pp for Sat night wedding with deluxe wedding menu. With tax I think that is $139. But, we got a free extra hour to the reception, and they also threw in dessert platters on every table. The cocktail hour is also very large, with carving stations, and a whole bunch of other stations I can't remember. I'm originally from Boston, and to have the same things in Boston would cost so much more. You pay for hors derves PER PERSON there, and open bar is always extra.

You can definitely find less expensive places in NYC. There are a bunch that start around $130.

I'm getting married in NYC and it's going to be about $300/person for the reception. Minimum of 200 guests.

You can find places that are less than that in Manhattan, but it's still going to run you AT LEAST $200/person.

Essex House starts less than $200, Manhattan Penthouse, Roosevelt Hotel, Beekman Hotel, Yale Club also start less than $200.

Both FI and I live in NYC and in the beginning we thought we wanted to have the reception in NYC as well. We decided on LI, not because it was a lot cheaper, but because we thought we were getting more for our money. More space - indoor and outdoor, etc....

I got married at the Essex house on a Sunday and it was way over $200, but you get a lot of extras and the service is incredible, unlike any other NYC weddings that I have been to.

Land's End--on the water--Sunday night in October-- $125/pp + tax and gratuity (works out to $153/pp)

Total cost with 260 people and all the goodies (photographer, florist, dress, etc.... etc.... etc...) = $78,000

OUT OF CONTROOOOOLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

but, going to be beautiful when all is said and done.

I am also having my reception at the Fox Hollow and I am paying $97 pp before tax and gratuity for a Friday night and I am going to have a cocktail hour, seafood bar, reception, full Viennese..In April. I only guaranteed 125 people. I think I got a pretty good deal!
