Re: How much is your wedding going to cost?
We are trying out best to keep our wedding under $50,000. It may happen (yes again, drugs are BAD). But I'll tell you this, our cost for a Saturday night wedding in February is costing us about $25 dollars less per person than if we had the exact same wedding on a Saturday night in June. Our entertainment is also less. Vendors will often cut prices for hard to book dates - it is better for them to make less money on a particular night than none at all. Our guest list exceeds 200 people and we are hoping that less than 200 actually show up. I'd either have to cut my guest list down by 1/3 or go into hock for the rest of my life to have a spring/summer wedding and to be honest, I like cold weather. This way I get the wedding I want. Its all about choices. Do what is right for you.

Re: How much is your wedding going to cost?
Ours will be right smack in midtown and its $95/pp if you have it in Jan, Feb or August. $110? other months. That's any night. A lot of people get put off because its the home of the Women's Republican Club during the day but you can take down all the portraits of the stuffy presidents if you want. It really is a beautiful space - right across the street from Rockefeller Center and catty corner from St. Pats. I think it can only hold around 150 though.Other NYC options for you in your price range:
VUE
Union Square Ballroom
Amuse
There are others that we looked at but I can't remember the capacity...

thanks for the help. we are trying to have it in a loft which requires a site fee from 5000 - 15000. Caterers are an additional 175 (for chairs, liquor and staff).
I might have to start considering other options :(
I was looking into having my wedding at the vineyard out East on the Northfork of LI and ran into similar issues. Site fees ($2500 - $10000), on top of caterers, tents, tables, chairs, linens, glassware... list goes on and on..
All these things add to the cost and add to your stress (more things you have to organize and worry about).
I finally ended up getting a catering hall - Giorgio's. They only do one event at a time and the place is beautiful. A lot more things are included = less to worry about!
If you don't want to bother with all the extra planning and don't want to spend all the extra $$ a catering hall might just be the way to go.

LI halls will be much cheaper per person than $300. Crescent and Flowerfields on a holiday weekend in Sept were around $190 plus tax and gratuity and those places are top notch (in my opinion)check out LI Halls, it will be worth it!
Not necessarily true. I went to look at the Atlantica in Westhampton Beach and a Saturday night wedding in Sept. was going to be $254/pp not including tax and gratuity. We decided on the Watermill and with all the upgrades and tax and gratuity it will be like $160/pp. I know Oheka is aroud $300/pp also. There are some expensive places on LI but yes, for the most part they are pretty much around or under $200/pp.

You should really look into Abigail Kirsh - the LIGHTHOUSE - originally we wanted a LOFT feel but lofts in NYC like the Tribeca Rooftop are a rip off - don't do it for $300 a person that is crazy - the lighthouse was about $165 a person and it is on the water with ceiling to floor windows just gorgeous - and it looks like a loft - the food is amazing..it is at chelsea piers - also a good place to look is the PUCK BUILDING - the space is just beautiful and it is a loft feel as well - the prices for me were about $195.

Re: How much is your wedding going to cost?
Wow- some of you ladies are really shelling out some cash for these weddings...we have a budget of 18K for 75 people on a first Friday in September of '06. Im sorry but there are so many opportunities out there that you can really have an inexpensive BEAUTIFUL wedding...just need to do your research...unless you're willing to settle for paying $300 per person...I don't even dine out this way!
