I am really set on having a wedding in NYC where me and my fiancée currently live. His family is from NJ and my family is from LI. Anyway you look at it looks like the price per person for the reception is going to be about $300 per person (including tax and gratutity). Good news is I am having a small wedding about 175.
Out of curiosity, how much cheaper are the suburbs?

Land's End--on the water--Sunday night in October-- $125/pp + tax and gratuity (works out to $153/pp)
Total cost with 260 people and all the goodies (photographer, florist, dress, etc.... etc.... etc...) = $78,000

but, going to be beautiful when all is said and done.
I'm also getting married at Land's End also in October!
But 2007. What date exactly are you doing? We're doing October 5. I would love to see some of your pictures after your wedding. Also maybe share some ideas of what food you think was better than others, etc.
We have not trimmed one corner. Just because it is one day....and we want to be able to savieur that day for years to come knowing that we did everything the way we wanted. The memories and photos will all be worth it.

We're having about the same amount of people, but for less than half of that price on a saturday night. You can defintie;y shop around. Sometimes you pay a lot just for location!

WOW Our wedding was miniscule in comparison! Price per person at the Southampton Inn was $100, including tax and service. We only had 85 people so our ceremony and reception cost about $9000 (add another $500 for the ceremony setup fee). I would estimate that the rest of the stuff (gown, band, invitations, flowers, misc., etc) came out to about $10k, so overall, our wedding cost less than $20k!
Edited to say - and I STILL feel guilty having my parents spend $20,000 for ONE day!

we're getting married at Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville, LI (3 towns west of westhampton beach) we are paying $65.00 + grat + tax for:
1.5 hr CH 4 hour reception
clam bar, cake, linens, and full open bar are included.
edited to say: FH is in the Air Force and his unit uses our hall alot for dinner parties and such. We got hooked up through the AF and could be why we got a good price.

thanks for the help. we are trying to have it in a loft which requires a site fee from 5000 - 15000. Caterers are an additional 175 (for chairs, liquor and staff).
I might have to start considering other options :(
I just went to a wedding in Bryant Park, on a Saturday night, $145pp. Good luck date twin!!!!!!!

Ours was about 17K w/out my dress and accessories. That mom paid for me. The best thing is that we only only 1K left !!!
I'm so glad we had a small wedding. It was small, but quality.

Our hall is costing about $28,000 for 200 people including tax and gratuity for a Saturday night in October.

Our budget is 30,000 including Honey Moon....So far so good, but maybe 33,000.

Ours is about $10,000 (give or take, w/o honeymoon), crazy huh I didn't even know it was possible......we had a VERY strict budget and stuck to it.... My parents are giving us the rest of what they would have spent on a more expensive wedding to go towards the down payment of a house... Both having a wedding and buying a house are important to us and I am glad that we found a way to do both. Sure there was ALOT that we couldnt do for that budget.....But I am very happy that we will be able to pull it off for such a reasonable price.

We had 165 guests for a Saturday wedding. The total cost for the wedding, honeymoon and all else was about 30k.

total cost for our saturday night in june was about $17,000- i'm proud of myself we found an awesome caterer that included cake, decorations, centerpeices, veinesse table, AND DJ for about $67 per person... and we're still getting compliments on the food we cut a couple corners ( like not having chair covers) but over all it was a beautiful day- and i think 10 years from now, we'll have just as good memories as we would have if we had spent $50,000.

there is a magazine in barnes and nobles called the weddingpages that lists sites and venues, gives you an idea of per person cost, kosher, weekends, more than one wedding, water views, etc etc. they are regional, so one for ny might include LI, CT, NYC and NJ and upstate!

Long Island isnt necessarily cheaper than NYC, I am paying $250 pp plus tax and grat and then all of my other vendors...Go to a place you love, if you can afford it, more power to you

WOW..I didnt know the Atlantica was that expensive..especially the month your getting married. I know many people who got married there in the summer on a Saturday night for less....I guess the price sky rocketed since July 2005....
