@ Jassy. I was looking at $1500 max. I think I might go to Jersey to avoid the ridiculous NY sales tax.

My sales lady told me that i had a Jersey address that I could give her then I could save on the tax...so I gave her my friends address...ended up saving lots because of that!!!

I was planning on going to David's Bridal because I really don't want to spend more than 1500 for my dress. I hear sooo many bad things about David Bridal but I don't think there are any other cheaper options. Such a shame
I'm going to Bridal Reflections for the Maggie Sottero trunk show. I've heard most of her dresses are VERY reasonably priced!

I have heard that also. Which is surprising. I thought Maggie dresses would be super expensive.. they are so gorgeous!

That is a good idea. I didn't know that.

that's my max, too. my mom can take care of alterations no problem - she's just too amazing for words lol but i got none of her sewing talent - and i'd ideally like to be under 1k...ha! Good idea about going to NJ! My first stop when I start looking is going to be the Bridal Garden in the city to see what I can get and have my $$ at least go to charity

My dress is Allure and it was 1700. I got it at Paridise Bridal in Patchogue. Everyone there is sooooo nice and helpful! I knew it was the dress as soon as i stepped in it before it was zippered and before i looked in the mirror. It was so weird! Everything I've always imagined wearing. Amazing feeling! It was such a fun experience trying on dresses...Have fun!

Try other salons, I think it is def possible to spend less than $1500. I did go to David's and not all of their dresses are cheap. Some of them were $11-1200. Bridal Suite in Bay SHore had some for $900. Call salons and explain your price point. I found everyone to be honest about their pricing. They don't want to waste their time anymore than you want to waste yours.
Last week I was with my friend at DB trying on bridesmaid dresses for her wedding. There was a girl there with her mother for her first fitting. They couldn't find anyone to help them pick out a veil etc. We tried to help her out the best we could. The mom couldn't help but say how different they were. When they were buying the dress they were all over her but afterward no attention.
IDK.. def look around.

Mine was $2000 and I got it at Bridal Reflections. It was a little more than my mom wanted to spend but she's happy its from Bridal Reflections bc they are so knowledgeable and have such great customer service.
Mine is from there too. The woman is phenominal with alterations!!! You'll be happy. They were pricey though.

Re: How Much Moolah For a Dress??
Also, out of everything we've spent money on and thought back about what we coulda saved on.... My dress is the LAST thing I'd change. You need to love it. So, cut corners somewhere else if you can. And my first budget with alterations was 1K. I tried on about 65 dresses and didnt love any. Upped the budget a bit more and found a gem. So, rather than keeping it low my advice would be aim for 1-2K bc the amount of nicer dresses they come out with is unreal. Just keep in mind that alterations are separate and so is the bussle-- which add up!

Also a lot of places sell veils for hundreds of dollars. You do not nees to buy your veil there. They have cheaper veils at davids bridal or sandys in massapequa they even have them at tri county. Or you can incorporate something old if your mom or grandmother still have their veil and it goes woth your dress. I just think its vrazy to spend 500 on a veil your not even going to wear all day.
