How much $$ on holiday gifts?

I was just doing some on-line shopping, and just wanted to see if I'm over the top or normal!
About how much $$ do you/will you spend on your child for the holiday???

ETA: AND...will you spend more $$ the older the child gets?

My original budget was $200-ish, but it's closer to $300. Definitely no more than that! Don't tell DH!!

I usually spend between two and three thousand. I know that sounds crazy, but I come from a huge family and we tend to spoil the kids (and oursleves... )

I probably won't buy much for Nicolas this year. He has just about every baby toy on the market and enough outfits to cloth 50 babies.

I'll probably just get him a few toys to 'grow into' and some books.

I chose $100-$250 but I spent closer to the $100 mark. He really doesnt need anything so I just got a few choice things so he could have the visual when he comes down the stairs on Christmas AM. Im sure I will spend more as he gets older and has a wish list. But I dont really believe in spending in excess. LOL! I say that now, wait till he's 5 and wants a laptop and a motorized car and a giant swingset and a game system and.....

LOL!

We went on a little shopping spree with JA last week at ToyRUs. JOhn picked out a few things for him. We spent just under $100 and may buy a few more things.
Alot of things John Wants to get him are for 'Over age Three' (train set, Lincoln Logs, the big motorized truck, and on and on) and Im not one to store things till they get older if I can avoid it.
He already got tons of toys and clothes for his bday, and Im sure will get tons more for Xmas, so I dont think we'll spend that much more either.
I agree that its much more rewarding and fun as they get older and have wish lists and the magic of Santa....

Im sure John will INDULGE in shopping for him ALL YEAR ROUND as he gets older. He has a weakness for toystores, never mind with a little one (or 2)..
