What are your bridesmaids paying for their dresses (please include the estimated cost for alterations) ? I'm trying not to take advantage but I really love this dress!

The dress I want is VERY EXPENSIVE, so I am having my BMs order through gownfind.com - the price ends up being less than $200 w/ tax, shipping, etc. (which I promised myself I wouldn't go over). Phillis is located in Northport and can do alterations too

mine were $240 with a $60 alternations cap the dress is velvet and silk- and actually rewearable
I was just in a wedding were the dress was $170 plus no alternations cap- some girls spent over $100 getting it altered and it was polyester- we were all so hot
we all would have paid more for a alternations cap and a better made dress

Mine is $175 + $60 in alterations. I think that is pretty reasonable.

maybe consider what you would expect to/could pay if/when you are a bridesmaid.

I'm trying to decide if a $230 custom dress (all alterations are included) is too much? Is it crazy if I offer to pick up $30 off of each dress myself? That would make it $200 each including alterations. Any thoughts?
(the dresses were $180 for the last wedding I was in but the cost of alterations brought it close to $300 and the dress was still awful)

My BMs dresses were designed so it was $350.00 plus $85 for alterations.

The dress is $139 but with my discount they're getitng it for $119. Alterations are capped at $70.

My BM dresses were all around $280. plus $75. for alterations. Not cheap I know, but I didn't think it was outrageous.

My girls paid $159 and there is a $65 cap for alterations. I still felt bad about it.

Well if you get a really expensive dress you should at least consider letting them wear their own shoes.
It isn't just the dress -- BM pay for shoes, jewelry, hair, make-up, shower, bach party, etc.
Maybe you can save them some money else where is this dress is really important to you.

I'm giving the jewelry as a thank you at the rehearsal dinner and I'm paying for their makeup. I'm asking them to pay for their hair and to decide together on shoes. On some of the weddings I was in I felt taken advantage of and I don't want to do that to them. Then again they know me well and knew what they were getting into when they said yes. I'm definitely torn...

Mine were $310, but we got a discount so they were $280. So far my MOH paid $40 for alterations, my mom's friend did it.

My bridesmaids dresses are $120 and my bridesmaids all went to a private seamstress so no one paid over $30 for alterations and to have the dress pressed!!! I thought that was a great deal!!!

WOW!!! I haven't even begun looking for bridesmaid dresses yet! BUT Those are some pretty pricey gowns you all have quoted!! I'm my sister MOH in May and I am wearing a Dessy gown. I don't know the price tag on that one yet.....she hasn't told me yet......EVIL!!!! :)

I only have two BMs and the dresses are $260 plus alterations. They are ok with the price, because they both felt they could wear the dress again.
