How much should I be paying for a DJ?

Hey Ladies,

I am not sure how much I should be paying for a DJ. This may be a repeat post, but does anyone have any quotes? I received quotes from a place called, 'Gregg Raffa Events' anyone know about the company?

Direction would be appreciated ;)

i think it really depends what you want, any bells & whistles etc. we are going with just a one man dj/mc with no extraneous uplighting, plasma, etc.

what are you looking for for your wedding?

I am actually looking for the same thing... Were on a very very very tight budget... anything above 2500.00 seems too much... I feel like such a cheapo.. :( I just need a DJ and the MC and maybe some ceremony/cocktail hour music.. no fancy lights etc..etc..

you are not a cheapo. i was the same way. call phil at after hours. he will work with your budget and is a pleasure to work with. i am also getting a photo booth with my package and came in under my budget. i highly recommend working with him!

We're going with After Hours - and our budget is exactly $2500 for music. They're great :)

We didn't check anywhere else, but we're booked with Genesis Events in Floral Park because they're the house DJ. We just saw them at a showcase and Fabio & John are amazing!! This is not to say the rest of the staff isn't, but they were the only two we saw and their service/communication so far has been great. Their basic packages start at $1600.

It all depends on what you want..the more things you ask for the more it will be but most range from $1,500 to $4,500 from what I have seen when I was searching

I am using After Hours and i have strings for the ceremony, DJ for CH, Sinatra singer during the entrees, DJ & MC for reception, Photobooth, white DJ platform, DJ giveaways, and name in lights, and Crest Hollow provides the uplighting. This was one of the most important things to us since we feel music sets the tone for the whole wedding.

You should def get a quote from FM entertainment. Frank gives some competitive prices.

It really depends on what you want. We are using Caleps DJ (they're Brooklyn based). Our package was $3,500 because we asked for the biggest package. I trusted this splurge because my FSIL used them and everyone still raves about their wedding, six years later. So FH and I figured we'd just use what they used.

never heard of that company. I've heard of up to $4,000 for a DJ but that's pretty over the top for me! I'm paying $2,000 but we don't have any cocktail or ceremony music because we've hired a musician. but that does include an international MC and uplighting. we went with We Like 2 Party and they've been amazing. HTH!
