how much $ should i (MOH) give for wedding gift?....already spent $1300

I am MOH. With cost of dress ($700 to turn a regular dress into a maternity dress ), bach party, and shower - then throw in cost of hair and makeup I will have spent $1300!!!!

I was planning on giving $200 but after doing a quick search on here it seems like people give more than that.

I can't believe how much i've spent already but is $200 too little???

is it just from you or from you & ur significant other??? also, do you know how much she's spending pp for the reception??? Personally my initial thought if it's just from you is that it's a very nice amount to give, however if she's having a sat. night wedding somewhere $$$ and she's paying that pp, it'll be about what everyone else is giving.. The bottom line is you give what you CAN give and what you want to give. But if it's just from you, $200 is a nice gift.

Whatever you can afford is a nice gift.

I was moh last year and I spent close to 4k gave gift of 500 for me and fh.

That being said, your bride loves you esp for chosing you for moh I am sure it won't matter to her!

I think it is a VERY nice gift, have never been a MOH but I am soon to be a Bride and if my MOH gave me that I would be happy. I don't expect my BP to go overboard though because of the costs involved in being in the wedding. I am just happy they will be there to share our day with us.

I would give what you would normally give if you weren't the MOH. If you would give $200 to a friend without being in the BP, I would do the same in this case. The $1300 doesn't have much to do with the gift, since you assumed the financial commitment of being a MOH/BM from the beginning. JMO.

OMG you've spent so much already - $200 is MORE than generous! You are an excellent MOH!!

i spent about that being a bms in my friends party. we are close though and i still gave her $300. it definetely was tough but i knew it was coming so i cant be upset....but i think $200 is generous as well.

I am a bridesmaid in August and have spent $1000 (this is my third time being a bridesmaid and I've spent $1000 each time). The gift I'm giving is worth $250 and is from both me and my fiance. I am getting married this year and I just can't afford to give more.

I agree with other people here in that you should give what you can. $200 is fine.

I personally don't expect a gift from my bridal party as they have to buy a dress and shoes etc as well as two need to travel (one from Aust). I am just happy to have them celebrate with me.

I'd say it depends on how involved you've been, your relationship with the bride (friends vs. best friends since 5 yrs old), as well as the type of person she is. I am not one of those brides who expects a $500 gift from my MOH, I went out of my way to make sure she didnt have to spend more than $150 on her dress. Also I know what her financial situation is (she just moved out of her mom's house to live on her own finally).
So I think if she chose you as a MOH, she is probably a close friend and will understand if you cant afford more than $200 for you alone or for you and a significant other.

This day is about love, and you being able to share the day with her...not how much money you can put in an envelope.

I don't think you have to give her anything else. But since you were going to give $200 that should be fine. I dont expect anything from my bridal party because I know they are already spending alot.

I'm not really concerned about getting a gift from MOH or anyone else in the bridal party. I feel that they have spent time and money already on my day.

Give what you can afford. Not everyone is capable of giving $200 or even $100. She didn't invite you for the gift- you are her MOH because you are a wonderful friend. Maybe you can give a smaller check and make something personalized to give them along with it. Maybe a photobook of the two of you or something along those lines.

Give what you can afford to give. As a bride, I would NEVER expect anyone to 'cover the plate' or even give a gift, especially my MOH who shelled out money to be a part of my day.

I think $200 would be very generous and a lovely gift.

I agree completely. Don't worry at all.

My sister is my MOH. I know she has already spent lots of $. I told her that I would be mad at her if she gave me $ or anything as a gift b/c she has done so much. $200 is def enough. My sister hasn't even spent half of what you have and I told not to give me anything!
