How Much time are you having between your ceremony and reception?
I'm still trying to work ou the logistics. We are getting married at a church in Great Neck and having our reception in Douglaston Manor (Little NecK). Our reception starts at 7:30. I am considering having the ceremony at 4 or 4:30. We are not taking picture ahead of time since I really want to see my FH for the first time on our wedding day as I walk down the aisle. So we will need time for pictures and I also want to time to make sure that everything at the RH is the way I want it to be. Do you think that's too long for a guest to wait for the ceremony?

I think that's typical. My time is short. Ceremony is at 4:30, followed by reception at 6:30 about half an hour away, so there's really no wait for guests, but if there's traffic we're going to lose precious picture time

Our ceremony is at 2:30 at church and extended CH (90 minuts long) starts at 5:30. So I guess it'll be about 2 hours? Reception is about 20 minutes away with no traffic, but factor in receiving line... I dunno... I've been worried about this actually, but then I realized when Iw as a guest at weddings no one gave a crap what I did in between, so whatever.

that's typical-most people will take their time exiting the church; talk; then head over to the RH. There have been times when i go to the RH early and just had to wait; or wasted time in CVS or something. Don't worry-it sounds about right

the plan is this.
Ceremony at 3:00pm. Figure with receiving line it ends at 4:00pm. Take a few pics outside church and then 4:30pm BP gets in the limo and goes to location to do pics.
While we are doing pics (somewhere along the route to RH) it will give our guests ebough time to go and check into the hotel before the shuttles start to leave to take them to the RH.
I would like to be at the RH by 6:30pm (CH starts at 7:00pm). I am going to have one shuttle arrive early with our immediate families so we can do some pics at the RH with them and then hopefully enjoy our CH.
Not sure how smoothly that will go but that's the plan anyway lol
If it looks like we are gonna cut it close we may just to pics at the RH.

I just wonder what people will do in the gap in between because the church and the reception hall are not that far from each other. My mom thinks I should just add extra time to RH and get married there. IDK, I am kind of digging the church ceremony. We'll see we are talking to the BM tomorrow.

Reception starts @ 7:30 – same as you I am debating on having church start @ 4 or 4:30 – I am worried with limos etc I might run over the 3 hour package That’s my dilemma…. I want to start @ 430 (since it s a Friday and everyone has work etc) but I think 4 might be better for time in between for pics and things…

My ceremony is at 2:30 and my cocktail is at 6:00. I figured the ceremony is about an hour, than the recieving line will probably be at least 30 minutes and the drive is about 15 - 20 minutes.

I don't think you should worry too much about it-it's not like you're having a huge gap. Plus your ceremony is on a Friday afternoon-unfortunately there will be some people that can't leave work early or whatever and will not be able to make it to the ceremony so it's not like all 150 guests will have to figure out what to do during that break.
They'll figure something out-walk the grounds of your hall (i'm sure it's beautiful in the summer). Hang out around the church & watch you take pic's.
I don't want to sound selfish or like a bridezilla-but don't change what you want (the church ceremony) because of other people. People who love you & want to share that day with you will figure out what to do to waste 2 hours. It will fly by anyway.
Like i said before-i've waited in the lobby of halls for 1+ hour before waiting for the reception to start. People have gaps all the time!

Ceremony is at 2, so that will end around 3, and another half hour for receiving line. I hope to be back in the limo by 3:45 to head out for pictures and bridal party fun.
CH starts at 7, lasts 90 minutes. Reception at 8:30.
For my brother and sister's weddings, mom has the OOTers at my house. She will have tons of food and will allow them to freshen up and even change their outfits. There's not usually too many of them, just all the stragglers from Jersey :)

We are having everything at the same place. After ceremony cocktail hour follows.
