When I was a BM in my bff's wedding, I gave her $500 from FH and I. I probably wouldn't give less than that as an MOH. But you do what you can, I'm sure she knows you've been shelling out a lot of money.
PS - I don't think your gift should be dependent on what type of wedding they're having. It should be dependent on your relationship.

Wow! That's a LOT of money you've spent! I would feel compelled to give at least $300 for me + FH. But that's just me.

I agree. And you do what you can- she knows you're saving for your wedding too.

Re: How much to give?
when I was the MOH in my friend's wedding we gave $500. It really does depend on how close you are to the person though.
Also something to consider, which is what my brother did with his wedding and his friends wedding, is to just not give gifts. There weddings were so close to one another and they were both in each other's weddings that it just didn't make sense to give a gift that will be given right back.

i AM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE BUT THE PRICES PPLE GIVE ARE SERIOUSLY SHOCKING ME. 400-500 dollars as a gift when u already paid hundreds to be part of the day? I would say maybe give $250. That is more then enough imo.

I am in my best friends wedding in June and in addition to the money I have already spent on BM dresses, shoes, makeup, hair, shower gifts, Bachelorette party, FH and I will be giving her a check for $500.

Re: How much to give?
WOW. I feel horrible. my BFF got married 2 years ago and I gave her $300. I was not in the position at the time to give anymore. I was single and living on my own. Do what you can. If it were now, I would have given $500 since my finances are better.

ITA.
When I was in my friends wedding 2 years ago, between engagement gift, shower gift, b-party, clothes for those occassions, day of dress & shoes as well as hair & make-up, I had already spent close to $2K & I was still in college & working part time. FH & I gave $250 & after the wedding my friend gave me the check back. She did that to all of her bridesmaids. I even told my bridesmaids that they should not feel obligated to give us a gift at the wedding. They are already spending so much money.

Re: How much to give?
Wow! I have to say I'm orginally from Ohio and things are waaay different there when it comes to gifting.
I would say give what you can comfortable afford. This is your friend and she knows what you have spent so far for her wedding.

ITA. This gift giving crap in NY is something that really bothers me. People's expectations and their reasoning behind them I often find ridiculous. And I did grow up here. I would never expect my BM's or MOH especially, after all their help and money spent to give me an extravagant gift. Espcially if they are getting married/still in college/working part time etc.... I'm not cheap, but I can't squeeze blood from a stone and I don't expect anyone else to try either.
GAAAAAH, lol, I was gonna keep my mouth shut and I couldn't resist...

Re: How much to give?
I was in a friends wedding about two years ago and I gave $300.... All together I probably spent $1500 to be in her wedding. I thought $300 was enough but now reading these posts I feel like I should have given more!
