How much to give for an engagement party?

She is having it at a Hall with a DJ, not formal seating... can you ladies give your advice on how much to give?

For 2 people:
$50 if you are not super close. $75 if you are.

If you are going alone then I'd say $30-$35 if you're not close or $40- $50 if you are.

$100 and a small gift, like a frame or something

wait - check to see if she is registered

if you guys are super close, i'd probably give more

I say if it's at a hall and they are serving dinner, at least $100/couple.

I'd only give $50. Gifts are getting bananas and I'm not a huge fan of the whole idea of an e-party. Flame away but that's how I feel.

I am along the same lines...maybe a little more if you are closer to them. I also am going by what was given to us at our engagement party. It was at a restaurant with dinner served, no DJ.

Either way, family of course gave us more but friends were average around the same amount.

I guess you have to give out of your heart though. What feels right to give them?

I completely agree. We didn't end up having one because we didn't want people to feel pressured to give us even more money than they were going to already.

Give whatever you can afford- and dont feel like you need to give a set amount.

We had our engagement party is July, our average for family was about $100 a couple and friends $40 a person. There was some lower and higher and gifts but that was about the normal. I agree with other post give what you can afford. I would hate to know people gave me more that couldn't afford it.

We usually give 50 and then buy something off the registry (if they are registered). If not, I'd probably just give a little more cash

def. 100 a couple, you can do more if you are super super close with the person like a sister or a bff etc. I would maybe consider less like 75 if it was in someones backyard, but since it at a hall 100 is perfect.
