I was invited to FH's cousin's shower, but cannot attend b/c I will be on my honeymoon. It's also OOS, so I probably wouldn't be able to go even if I were home.
I've only met her once and then only very briefly. (We got to FIL's house as they were leaving one day.) She was invited to my shower, but did not attend and did not send a gift. She is coming to our wedding and we plan to attend hers.
I want to send a gift, as I feel it's the right thing to do. Their registry is very odd - not much on there.
At any rate, what's an appropriate amount to spend in this situation? Originally, I was going to send like a place setting of china, but she didn't register for any... or any dishes for that matter.
I was thinking of sending her her salad bowl, salad spinner, and tongs. That costs a little over $65. Is that enough to spend?

Re: how much to spend on this shower gift?
I think it is more then enough to spend and I like you always feel compelled to do the right thing. At least 50 is the right thing to do. I always want to do the right thing...that is my problem!

Re: how much to spend on this shower gift?
Well, I went and spent about $50 on the gift. That's just me. I then went and got wrapping paper and a card... now I have to figure out if my FMIL is going to the shower.
If she is, she can take my gift with her when she comes for the wedding... If not, I'll have to ship it.
I called yesterday to RSVP and asked the girl to call me back to tell me if it's all right to mail the gift to her ahead of time so I have my bases covered. Hopefully she will call me back.
