our entire bridal party is all his relatives- cousins and brothers.
for my girls- his cousins- I was plannning on getting them some nice CZ jewlery sets to wear that day and after the wedding.
well, he thinks i need to get them diamond jewelry....he wants me to wait to go to Canal St. and the diamond district to buy them stuff there.
I think its a bit too much to buy them diamond earrings and a necklace as a 'thank you' for spending so much to be in the wedding as FH says.
Give me honest opinions please. I could very well be looking at this situation wrong

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
I think that there is a happy medium between the CZ jewelry and real diamond jewelry.
perhaps you can get them gold lockets on a gold chain (less expensive than diamonds).

You're absolutely right! You do NOT need to buy diamond jewelry for your bridal party!!! That seems completely uncalled for. There are beautiful gifts that you can buy that will be a fabulous thank you without going to that extreme.

real diamonds? You might end up spending more to say 'thank you for speding money to be in my BP' than they actually spent!

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
I JUST had a convo about this with one of my bm's. I asked her....would you rather me get you real diamond/gem stuff, or would you rather nice cz stuff and something extra that would be a bit more practical? she said...and this was the best bit of advice i got; ' I love your taste in jewelery...i think you will do a great job at picking something beautiful out...but who knows if EVERY one of us will love what you pick out...why would you spend so much money per bm on one thing that will look great withthe dress but might not be so otherwise practical...I would rather you not break your bank and get us nice cz stuff that will look great and something else, more practical/meaningful'
i personally thought what she said was great...and thats what im gonna do. I was gonna be spending 900-1200 on gifts that they might never wear again...id rather be more meaningful

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
We spent about $50 per person and will be spending more on the BM and MOH. We have 8 BM and 8 GM (plus a RB) though or we might have spent a LITTLE more.
I don't think you need to buy diamonds at all!! I would only do something like that if I had one or two people to buy for... I agree with what someone above said, maybe look for real gold jewelry but something that doesn't have any stones in it. THat way it is somethin valuable, but not too expensive.
Good luck!

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
you do not need to buy them diamonds! even on canal street you might be spending way more than necessary. if your fh is worried about how much they are spending, remind him that they agreed to spending that much! you could always offer to pay for something to offset their costs, for example, i think i am going to pay for their hair or shoes as well on top of their gifts. i think i will do $50 on shoes, $30 on swarovski earings, and $50 on coach wristlet (not for the day of, just something practical). i will get a little something extra for my MOH. you can't guarentee that they will ever wear the day of jewelry again, so why spend a fortune on it? goodluck! ~lacey

I spent $100 on cashmere wraps for the day and after my wedding. I'm going to get something extra for MOH, don't know what it will be yet.

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
I would go to Swavorski and get them something. I just think jewerly is a personal preference and diamonds are expensive! It you get something affordable in diamonds, it may not look as good with your BM dresses b/c it's smaller. I think your BP would want you to put $$ towards your wedding and not spend it on something they may not even wear on their own. Personally, I was considering buying cheaper CZ jewelry for the wedding day and maybe a cute purse (not a regular BM purse) that they would use again. I found beautiful cz chandelier earrings at Bloomingdales for $30 (originally $60). Another option could be overstock.com - everything there is super cheap - even the diamonds if you go that route. Sorry to ramble. I debated this same issue. Or, maybe just get your MOH something in diamonds.

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
I think it is crazy to be expected to buy diamonds for your entire BP. I am doing a gift basket that will have stuff like monogrammed terry cloth bath robes, spa products, and other knick knacks. I have a big bridal party and to do that for each girl is costing me roughly $1000 total.

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
do NOT do it.
I got my BM's gift bags full of things. I also got them 14K gold earrings with 5 carats of garnets in them. I had the earrings dipped in white gold so they could be worn with the gowns. I actually received COMPLAINTS at my RD about the earrings.
Don't waste your money!
ets: the earrings were $45 plus $15 for dipping. I also paid for their hair to be done on the day of the wedding and gave them a bunch of other gifts.

I spent $25 on each of the BMs and I will be also paying for the hair and makeup of my two MOHs.... Question.... Do you get something for the other people in the ceremony like the two readers??

I gave them boutinerres/coursage and I also bought a pretty $10 picture frame for each of them.
Then, after the wedding, I gave them a print.

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
We took care of our bridal party.
All my guys got iPod Minis. All the girls got Movado watches.
Came out to about $200 a person. We had a total of seven people to buy for.

You do NOT need to get them ALL diamonds. I got pearly necklaces to wear the day of, along with cute purses with their initials embroidered, and I got my MOH diamond earrings, but she's my sister.

I don't know about diamonds. I think that is a bit extreme. Just remember your bridal party spends alot on you. The dress, shower, gifts...

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
I got my girls a pretty shower basket with lotions, soaps and loafas, plus earrings and necklace for day of the wedding and a pretty bag to use the day of for $50. Do some shopping. I started early. Bath and body works had 40% of summer baskets, which I loved, and the jewelry and bag were all on sale!!!

Re: how much was your bp gifts?
I'm more an advocate of the old 'Its the thought that counts.' As some of the previous posters mentioned if whatever expensive piece you purchase for them is not their taste, they won't ever wear it (despite how much it costs). I think it would be more important to give each of your girls something that reflects her personality to REALLY be a THANK YOU present. And there's really no price tag on thoughtfullness.
