Since I am at the beginning of the planning process I was wondering what all of you had to leave as a deposit for some of your vendors?
I realize it will vary especially with things like RH but just to give me an idea.
Maybe let me know for RH, Photographer, Florist
and if you are getting married in a church - did you have to pay the fee up front or do you pay it later on?

No fee up front for the church...
RH - $3,500 Photog - 20% Band - $750 to book, then another $750 a month later. The balance is due the day of. Dress - 60%
I haven't booked a florist yet so I'm not sure

RH was $1,000 deposit $1,000 a year before (of $27,000 approx.)
DJ was $1,000 (of a $2900 package)
Video was $500 (of $1995 package)
Officiant was $250 (of $550)

I believe we had to put down $1,000 to hold the date @ our RH
Photo's we had to put down either 10 or 15% .. i don't remember how much they required
& flowers we put down $500.

RH deposit I think was 2K? Then each additional monthly payment will vary with each RH.....
Photog we left 500 to reserve the date and then we had to pay 1/3 the cost up front.....the 1/3 the cost a day or 2 before the wedding then the remained 1/3 when we order/pick up album!

Hair/Makeup - $50 each
RH - $5,000

RH we had to put $1500.00 deposit down Florist- we put $500.00 dep. down Photo & Video- I think it was $500 for each
Rh $3500 with in 3 mths Florist 10% Dj $280 limo $ 100 deposit Photographer $800

RH: $1,000 (we have to make payments every couple of months in the $1500-3000 range) DJ: $500 (50%) Flowers: $838 (20%) Photographer: $1000 Video: $0 Dress: $2000 (50%) DOC: $150 Church: $0 Makeup: $30 Hair: $50 CH Music: $200

RH - $1,000 Photo - $500 Video - $250 Band - $750 Limo - $650 Florist - $0 - I'm using a personal friend Church -$0 - had to mail in $75 for pre-cana, but the church fee is not due until the rehearsal
ETA: these were my initial deposits. Of course we had a some more every few months thereafter.
