How much was your dress?

How much was your dress?

I know this is a silly question, but i have been feeling so uncomfortable with the amount of money i paid for my dress, just for one day.

I bought a pronovias dress, it is beautiful.. but $1500.. just seems so extreme...

Re: How much was your dress?

mine is a Jasmine Couture and it was $1500 before alterations. That hit my price range right on the money.

Gowns are a ton of money and that's just the way it is! If I had found something I loved that was under $1500 I would have gotten it, but it's hard to find the style and fabric (French Ancelon Lace) I wanted for cheaper.

Previously I had fallen in love with 2 other gowns that ranged from $3500 - $4800 - to me that was excessive and I just couldn't justify it. They are the first two gowns in my album if you want to see.

I think $1500 is a great price! Especially if you love the dress!!

Here is another LIW bride wearing my dress, although I will be wearing it with a sash. This is Hallowedding - she's beautiful in it!

$ 1200, the bridal shop I got it from includes all alterations for free, so I thought it was a great price

I guess mine fall sunder the free range, my mommy bought it for me!!! I found a maggie I loved, but you could see the bones, then I found the same exact dress by Davinci, but couldn't find a samole anywhere in CT or NY!!! Then I found the same exact dress in Davids!!!! for $699 and got it on sale for $550, in my opinion it is better than the Maggie because I wouldn't have to pay to alter the dress to hide the bones!!! The maggie was almost $2000. Keep looking you'll find something. I wanted a 'label' dress but in the end my dress is perfect and I nor my mom had to spend a fortune on it!!!

that's a GREAT price!
I don't thin you should feel guilty about that at all. I spent a lot more
I also had buyer's remorse about it but now that my wedding is over,,,,,,it was worth it!
You only do this once and its the most IMPORTANT GARMENT YOU WILL EVER BUY FOR YOURSELF......it should be extreme!!!!!!

I pd. $3000-for the dress I am actually wearing-Reem Acra (considering the designer-I got a great deal). BUT I pd. $2500 for a dress I won't be wearing!!!! So I am definitely way in the hole!!!!!!!

I allowed myself a budget of around $1000...give or take a few hundred...found my dress which cost $1150...but got it for $580!! they had a brand new one, never worn, that was my size...must have been a cancellation or bride who changed her mind.

I got my dress at David's Bridal and I really lucked out because they were discontinuing my dress in ivory so I got a great discount. I paid a little bit over $600 for my dress, my veil & shoes.

My dress was $1200 not including alterations, but my Mom is paying for it, so I guess it is free for me!!

I think you spent a fair amount on your dress!! Don't be upset about it!! Some people spend over $5000 on their dress! If you can afford it, love the dress and how it looks on you...that's all that matters in my opinion!! It's your Wedding Gown!!

Re: How much was your dress?

I was HAPPY after looking at many dresses that were about $5000 (and feeling supreme sticker-shock) and seriously thinking about one that was $2000 to have found different places to look & have paid less than $1000 (but with veil, headpiece and alterations, you can make that almost $2000) that I thought was more beautiful than ANY other.

Price shouldn't matter: but more than YOU can afford on a dress is a little ludicrous. This number (of course) is different for each person.

So, all-in-all, what you paid was FINE: a good deal even.

PLUS: I heard that a good seamstress could make a baptismal outfit (if that's your religion) for your kids from your dress...I thought that was very sweet: and a good way of recycling (don't want to be like that Dickins novel and keep my wedding bits as a museum).
