I'm already paying $200 for alterations, now they're telling me another $200 for hollow to hem. I didn't know there was a penalty for being short!!!
Anyone else care to give their alterations costs?

Mine are about $450. My bustle was supposed to be $200 but it ended up being a bit more because I asked them to do a modified Austrian bustle with 3 rows. I was a bit surprised too at how much money the whole thing is!

I paid a little less than $200 for hollow to hem (dress is lace) and another $180 for alterations (simple ones)....Way more than I expected.

Mine are capped at $295, but that doesn't include the bustle. That is $15 a button. But I want a pretty bustle, so if I have to spend a lot, I don't mind. My dress itself was way under budget for me.

I am going to an independent seamstress and she couldn't give me an estimate on the cost because she hasn't seen the dress yet. Which is understandable.
I REALLY hope that it's not too much!

Mine is capped at $295 but that doesn't include the bustle! It shows $95 and I seriously hope that's not a per button estimate!

for the Maggie Sottero 'Grace' dress (which was hundreds of dollars cheaper than any other salon at $660) at
BURTON'S!!!!
Oh, and their is no charge for the torso but I had a corset anyway.

Mine are around $200 I think. They are capped lower because the dress is coming to my height. I'm sorry that you are having such problems with alterations - it's really a shame that they didn't do this before ordering.

Here's the thing....I don't think they ordered it yet, because they said they order it to come in about 3 months before the wedding, and I know my dress takes about 4-5 months to come in, which would mean it hasn't been ordered yet. (That and they asked me if I wanted it sooner than January)
I'm going there tomorrow, and now I gotta worry about the bustle too??? It never occurred to me to find out if I had buttons or loops on my dress!!

my alterations - $25
have it done at a seamstress dont let the bridal shop talk you into $400 alterations with their dressmaker - you can get it done cheaper.

When I go to the salon tomorrow I am going to tell them I am getting alterations elsewhere. (That and it would be a PITA to drive to Brooklyn from Suffolk every time for fittings!!)

i was told all i needed was a hollow to hem ($100.00) now they said well when you come in we might have to do some more alterations
