My wedding is on a Sundy night in April...not yet wedding season and definitely a less popular day and time. how much can I stress this when negotiating with vendors?
TIA!

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
Good Luck to ya! I have yet to find a vendor besides the reception hall and florist that cuts a break based on month/day/time.
I'm the last Sunday in April at 7:00 p.m. - got a break at Fox Hollow and the florist...that's it!

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
getting married in December got me a few better deals but not many
I am paying $20 per person less- but I am still paying $140 per person
I paying everyone in CASH, no tax-
the DJ gave me a better price then he gave my freind- but her wedding is out east in sept
I think you would get a better deal on a sunday- but they may also have a harder time getting people to work on a sunday night-
for example- people might DJ on the weekend for extra money- meaning they have a 9 to 5 job also on monday- so that could work against you

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
I am having mine on a friday during christmas week and all i could negotiate out of them was an upgrade on the desserts. Most places have altered prices already made for those days so they are less likely to negotiate.

I got a great price for my hall and my limos but for the most part, everyone seems eager to work in January but they don't come down on their prices.

I negotiated with Royalty due to my off-season wedding day.

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
I negotiated a better price with my hall, florist, photographer and DJ because of my day & date.

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
I am paying $60 less per head for a Saturday night wedding in March as opposed to a Saturday night wedding in 'peak' season.
I got a little off for my band, but not much.

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
I didn't get ANY difference in prices from anyone. Well, the reception hall the month was different, but not my specific day or weekend.

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
MAJOR wiggle room.
To do my wedding on a Saturday in May or later would cost me about $25 more per head and we are saving about 21% on our entertainment. If I wanted my wedding in season, Id need about 20-25K MORE.

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
Most halls has pre-set rates for 'off' times. Some places vary with changing the menus. Terrace on the Park wouldn't really deal for 'off' times, so they were 'off' my list! Some of the vendors at the Fox Hollow showcase offered about 10-15% off for my Feb wedding...it doesn't hurt to ask. I think Cassarino studios photographer offered a small discount to me. Every little bit helps.
Good luck!

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
this is the thing...I really want to say to these vendors 'the likelihood of someone else booking you on a Sunday night in April this late in the game are pretty slim...so if you want some business, you'll take 20% off..if not I'll have to keep looking.'
do you think that would fly? LOL

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
It's worth a try. But, if there is a vendor that you really, really want to use, I wouldn't say that. To them you can say something like 'I was really looking to spend a little less than that. I am going to have to keep looking.' then if they don't come down in price, you can go back to them and say 'I could not find the great service for the price you were offering, like I thought I would' or somethink like that.

I am all for asking for a discount, but I don't think that will fly because believe it or not, it's not too late. I booked in October for May and most vendors were booked in Nov and Dec (DJ, limos, photo, video, we booked them all late)...there were brides in Feb looking at May too, so it's not late.
But def say 'I realyl want to use you and I think you will be great, can you do any better on the price?' 9 times out of 10 they can.
GL!

thanks girls...I figured I would have to be more diplomatic, especially if there's a chance I'd have to eat my words later on, I'd like there to be a little sweetness to them!
thanks again!

Re: How much wiggle room does having your wedding
explain to them that you love their work but you have a budget. See what they can do. Put it in their court. If it's a popular vendor most likely if they don't do your wedding they will do another.
