I just received an invitation to the bar mitzah for my cousin. My aunt, uncle and cousin were all at my wedding just 6 weeks ago. Well, on the invite they mispelled my name -- not just a mistaken letter or a typo, but really butchered it like they never had to spell my name before! I am obviously related to them, they were just at my wedding where they saw my first name who knows how many times, and uhhhhhh did I mention they are my relatives and they should sort of know my name???????

YIKES....on the rsvp you should spell your name the way they spelled it and then cross it out and rewrite it correctly...

I wouldn't get too bent outta shape about it, FSIL spells my last name wrong after 11 YEARS!!! I realize she's a little dopey and laugh it off, my friends of 15 years spell my last name wrong, heck my own grandfather sometimes mispells our (not his) last name, it just is what it is, there are so many more things to stress about, just chuckle!!

oh please my aunt who by the way im super close to who has a daughter who was in bp & is like my sister. My Aunt still spells my name Vickie. Its just a mental block kinda thing. Its no biggie. Oh & yes they all were at my wedding too. I dont find it offensive its just how some people are. I think if you werent invited to the B-M THAT would be more insulting.

I'd probably roll my eyes, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. People spell my name wrong all the time, and my own papa has spelled it allie, or alli, and my sister steffi and it's like come on now. I don't take it so much as an insult, but just that generally, people are stupid.
If you think that's bad, at work when I have to spell my email address to people to send things to me, I say it's a, l, i, d as in dog...and then when I get the email sent, it's 'Hi Ally...' or 'Hi Allie...' and I'm like really? You're that stupid? And once I got, the winner of the genetic lottery, 'Hi Alid...'
I can see you getting annoyed though, just try not to let it get you!

My FH's cousin is getting married in May. . .they received STDs and other things from us with my first name (5-letter Megan) spelled correctly. When we received her invite? MEGHAN. THAT IS ONE OF MY PET PEEVES! So, right back on the RSVP, I spelled my name correctly and added at the bottom, 'Megan does NOT spell her name with an 'H'.' FH's bitchy aunt got the RSVPs, so I was kinda proud of myself for doing that.

is it possible that the person was stoned? i have an aunt who writes my name incorrectly, and sometimes her own, on my christmas presents...just throwing another reason out there.
