How often do you Follow-up with your Vendors?

Hi Ladies,

Like most of us, I booked my major vendors 12-15 months in advance. My biggest fear is that they are going to somehow misplace my contract and book someone else for the same day. Did you guys follow-up with vendors?? Can I call them just to reconnect and say hi?? Or am I being totally crazy???

Honestly, most of my vendors contacted me for more money....

They probably will contact you but there is nothing wrong with calling them a few months in advance and just call to make sure that they have everything that they need from you.

You can always call your photographer to talk about engagement photos and I see nothing wrong with calling your band/dj to discuss the type of music you want played.

I see you're getting married at the Wind Watch. I'm getting married there next weekend!!

You should follow up with them at least a month or so before. For example, my limo contract states that we have to confirm the week before the wedding. Better safe than sorry.

You're not being crazy...I'm the same way. I booked a lot early, and I worry to!

With my photographer I called to schedule an appointment to sit down and meet the person who will be photographing us....just a get to know you type thing. With my wedding gown, I scheduled a time to try on the sample with headpieces, this way I know that they know which gown I ordered (insuring it was actually ordered).

With the hall, I know they remember me because I get the BILLS ALL THE TIME.

Karen, you are not crazy, I am in contact with all my vendors. I talk to the head of my band the most, just about song lists and types of music, etc. I also recently got my string quartet through them, so I went to go meet with them again. I also talk to me photographer/videographer every once in a while. I am meeting with them again in a month to go over the actual different types of albums and packages (I haven't picked one yet - I just signed a generic contract to hold them for my date).

I am also getting married at the Hamlet WW and stop by there whenever I get a chance. I think they think I'm nuts or something.

The only vendor I really don't talk to is my florist because he said not to worry about anything till a few months before the wedding. So, I am taking his advise and will follow up when I get a little closer.

I've been dying to go back to the Hamelt WW, but my FI thinks I'm crazy. I think on the one-year mark, I'm definitely dragging him back there.

I see you're using Photos of the Heart - we're using them also - I haven't picked out a package yet, either.

You guys can visit the Hamlet - you could always do dinner or lunch at the restaurant over there. Then at least you have an excuse for being there!

I will fill you all in when I get back!! Lori got married there recently and she had nothing but positive reviews so I'm not too worried!

I booked most of mine at least a year in advance as well. The vendors have contacted me for my money when necessary. Other than that a month before, most called me. A few didn't and so I called them. They said they call a week before. As far as my hall, whenever I am on the island and have the time I stop by and take a peak!

I booked some of mine 16 to 18 mos in advance. I hve actually been in touch with all of them for some reason or another since then. I think there is nothing wrong with contacting them once in a while if you have a questions, but I don't think you need to keep calling to make sure they haven't lost your contract

I am a HWW bride, as well. I go in there almost everytime I get up to the island (I live in MD now) and Denise is always pleasant and lets me show the place off to whoever it is that I have brought with me. I just show up with a BM in tow, and I am always allowed to walk around inside.

Becky, it's so hard to believe it's almost here. I'm going Saturday to drop off my favors, seating chart and certified check to Denise!!

Unbelievable how fast it went!!!

I will definitely post a review - probaby when I get back from Hawaii. (Oct 28th!)

Then I can come back here stress-free and fill everyone in!

I check in with them about once a month/two months...that way they don't forget about me. I feel like if I build a friendship with them...then they won't want to let me down...at least that is what I like to tell myself.
