I just go when I can and they come when then can.

We don't really do specific invites.

We did it once and it was a semi-disaster.

We tell everyone though that they are welcome whenever.

Re: how often do you invite

My baby sister comes over at least once a week now that I have FIOS. She likes BBC America. My older sister comes every now and again. She is the type that needs an engraved invitation.. like Rob's younger sister.

Rob's older sister is dating my best friend.. so they pop over whenever. They call but it's not like an invitation thing.

We go to my in laws every Sunday. Although.. I usually find a reason to miss every other Sunday or so.

I never invite them over unless I am having a party or something. I just really can't be bothered.

My mom used to come over every day before she died. She couldn't go a single day without seeing the kids. I would invite her to stay for supper every night. She sometimes accepted, sometimes declined, sometimes bought our groceries for supper and sometimes took us out. I miss her a LOT.

I am having a potluck soon. Anyone interested in coming to my small, dirty little hovel?

my MIL lives with us, so of course she eats with us all the time.

my BIL's kids are over every day, sometimes they eat and cook with me, sometimes not. BIL sometimes eats. his wife NEVER eats my food...even on the rare occassions when we invite them over for dinner (usually for his mom's bdays and such)

my sister and BIL have never been over for dinner. I invited myself over to their new place once b/c I really miss my niece. my niece comes over every so often.

my mom has never been over, neither has my dad. she has also never invited us over for dinner since we've been married. (she used to have my sis & bil over every so often- no she lives with them since selling the house last week)

I've been thinking about having them over...but then I remember that they don't invite me anywhere...so not sure if I should bother now.

Same here. Plus she NEVER has us for dinner. Instead she'll lay the guilt on uber thick, which makes me not want to see her at all.

My parents come over whenever and have us over whenever. 1. because they rule. 2. because they live around the block and know their boundaries

I say bother. If they say no, then at least down the line you can say you put in the extra effort.
