How often do you see your parents?

I have been thinking alot about this lately. We live by my DH's parents and see them about 2 times a week. They live about 20 minutes from us. My parents live a little over an hour from us and we see them about once a week, sometimes it's every other week if we are away or really busy.

How often do you see yours of DH or FI's parents? Let me know if you have children too, as I'm sure that affects the number of times!

The reason I'm asking is because MIL watches SIL's baby everyday while she works half days. Even if she's not watching the baby, they usually see each other practically every day- is that normal?

Once a year if I am lucky. In the last year I have seen my Mom 4 times, but this is an exception b/c of the wedding.

FH sees his Mom about 2 times a year.

My mom lives about 30 minutes away and I see her probably (on average) once a week....
(Sometimes it's more, and sometimes it's less depending on work, weekend plans etc..)

DH's family lives about 45 min-1 hr. away and we see them a few times a month, certainly not every week.

I hang out with my mom a lot, we love doing things together, so I would say I see her a lot more often then my DH see's his parents.

I see my parents about once every other month, whenever I can fly home.
FH, on the other hand, works for his father's company so he sees them almost every day.

I see my mother as little as possible - mostly just holiday's and when I've been guilted into visiting with her.

I see my dad *maybe* once a month. Our schedules are so crazy, it's hard to make the time. But we speak every week and email as well.

FH speaks with his mom a few times a week...and we see his parents a couple of times a month. Mostly b/c FH is one of 7 with 6 nieces and nephews, so there's always some birthday or get together. IT's nice, I like it.

I see my mom about once a month, if I’m lucky. We’ll go through periods where we see each other multiple times a week (like during X-Mas holidays). I see my dad also maybe once a month or so. He only lives about a mile from me, but I am not always in the mood to visit, which I feel guilty about.

We see FH’s family much more often. They’re big on Sunday Dinner, so his sisters and the grandchildren come every week. We probably go the least out of anyone else, but we’re still there every other weekend. Much more lately because FMIL is helping a lot with wedding stuff (she’s hand addressing all of my invites! She’s a doll).

i see my dad every 2 weeks

but my sister and i had a big argument where she said 'you don't live here anymore' (because I asked her to take something she's been leaving in the guest room I use when I do stay over w/ FH out of there) so since I'm now a guest in the home I grew up in, I think I'll be spending less time there.

I see my mother once or twice a week since she lives about 2 minutes away from me. Usually its quick visits or she picks me up at the train to give me some paperwork.

We don't see DH's father at all. But we do see his aunt and uncle about once a month when they are in NY (They winter in FL).

It is just my mom- but I do not see her that much. We are not that close.

I am VERY close with my aunt- we live in the same apt building one floor away. I see her on the weekends once or twice a week that equates to.

My inlaws live about 15 minutes away. Dh sees them on weekends as well., so that might equate to 2 times a week.

we have no children.

I think this is the perfect amount for us.

Not as much as I'd like to. I see my Mom and Dad when I can, which is usually every two or three weeks. Hopefully this will change when we move back to Long Island.

I see my MIL several times a week, since she lives next door to us.

And I see my FIL a few times a year, since he lives in Florida.

I am very close with my mom, though. We used to go food shopping together and out to lunch every weekend. I definitely miss it.

Everyday since we live with them.

But my DH goes to his paretns during the day about 5 times a week, this might also be becasue he is at our house that is being built right next door from them.

When we lived in an apartmen, I came home to my parents at least 4 times a week, so see my mom and my dogs.

I see my parents about 1x month. We see his parents about 1x per week since they always end up with our mail

My parents are four states away. I live with my inlaws.

Still....

I see his mother (MIL) about twice a month. She lives with her boyfriend mostly and doesnt come home. I see his grandmother daily!!! heh and probably see his brother (BIL) about 4 times throughout the month.

My parents USED to see about twice a year. Once in the fall and once in the summer. But the year we got engaged I had my car repaired so I was limited to one trip and we all went to visit San Antonio. This year no trips at all to see my parents. The next time I'll see them is at the wedding.

If we move (which we hope by the beginning of next year) then we won't see any of the parents much. Probably his family on holidays and my family once a year.

*shrug*

Im a big time Daddy's girl, but Im also a Navy child. Im used to having Dad far away. I just email and call him constantly. I miss him and having time to just sit and talk crap with him but I also know it's no big deal, we stay close without living close.


ETA: it may not bother me as much cause my stepmonster and I don't get along well for long so usually more than a day together is more than enough. Between my SIL (bro's wife) and my mother (stepmonster) there's a reason Im happy over one thousand miles away!

I see my mom everyday (we work together), my day every other week
My FH's dad and mom about 1x a month

We see both sets usually once a week.

This mostly has to do with Damien though

Although Steve 'has' to stop by his parents house once a week

I see my parents practically every day .. when I was single, I bought an apartment in the same coop complex as they live in .. but we're in different buildings. They FH moved in with me, and luckily everyone gets along (he helps out my parents a lot .. he's a sweetheart!) . We live in Westchester.

FH's parents live in E. Northport, and we try to seem them once a week, usually on Sundays, but most times its every other week (esp with all this bad weather!) FH works with his mom, so he sees her everyday. Luckily I get along with his folks well so I don't mind visiting them, either

We'll probably wind up in Long Island eventually, since FH works there and this commute is just too tough on him. He gave up a nice easy commute just to be with me!

Though I will admit (selfishly) that I'd prefer to stay in Westchester. Partly because the commute is SO much easier into Manhattan (as opposed to LIRR) and I will really miss my folks and brother, who lives 10 mins. away.

I still live at home!
Hopefully when I eventually get to moving out of this place it'll be down to once every one to two weeks.......
