I'm trying to choose my bridal party - which for the most part is not hard. On my maternal side, I hvae 4 female cousins - 1 in her late 20s who was married in 2003 and then a 20 year old, a 16 year old, and a 10 year old.
When my older cousin was married, she originally just asked me to be her BM (since we're close in age and close in general). Then, I don't know if someone said something to her or she just felt bad, but she ended up asking the other 3 cousins and my sister. I feel like this has set the bar for me. Of course I would ask my older cousin no matter what, but I also want to ask the 10 year old because, believe it or not, we're pretty close!!! She IMs and e-mails me all the time and she's basically the cutest. But, I felt that if I asked her to be my Junior BM and my cousin to be my BM, the other two cousins would feel hurt.
I was thinking maybe if I ask the 10 year old to be my FG, it would some how be less of an issue. But, is that too old for a FG?
Also - what would you guys do in general? This situation is holding up me and FH from asking everyone to be in the BP.
Oh, also - if I were to invite all 4, it would leave the BP lopsided - 10 BMs and 7 GMs.
ETA: She'll be more like 11ish by the time I am getting married.

Re: How Old is Too Old to Be a Flower Girl?
I am having 3 flower girls (Their ages will be 2, 5 & 91/2 yrs old by the wedding) and I have 1 Jr. Bridesmaid (14 yrs old). The 9 1/2 year old is my niece so I was not sure if she should be a flower girl or a Jr. bridesmaid. In all the stores that we went to I asked whoever was helping us what she should be and they all asked what her age is and they said flower girl. I think it also depends on her height. My niece is very petite. I am going to make her dress a little bit different from my other flower girls.
You could always ask what she wants to be. I asked my niece and she said that she wanted to be a flower girl because she has been waiting a long time to be my flower girl.

I would ask the 10 y/o to be a jrBM, esp since she'll be 11 by the time of your wedding. I mean, you can really do whatever you want but IMO that's a bit old to be a FG.
As for the 16 and 20 y/o I would ask them to be readers if you don't want them as BMs. That way they're not left out and you don't feel like your BP is lopsided.
Any idea if there is anyting I can ask them to do besides being readers? I was thinking of giving them some other role int he wedding, but didn't know what else it coudl be.
My Godmother and I are very close and I'd absolutely have to ask her to do one of the readings.
Ok, in that case you can ask them to hand out programs before the ceremony. After the ceremony they can hand out whatever is going to be thrown at you guys as you walk out (rice, petals, etc.)
