When you had your first child or got Pregnant?
I am getting married at 26, but want to wait until I am at least 30-31 to try. Is this ok?

Um, hello Kathi, you are NOT the oldest!! I was 37 when I conceived, and GULP, will be 38 (hello, just turned it yesterday) when the baby is born in September (38 1/2 to be exact LOL!! God where has the time gone????

I used to cry to Joe that when our kid is in school, people were going to think I was the kid's grandmother!!! But I have no control over what age I was when I became a mother, so I can't get myself all stressed about it (which I would normally do) -- things happen for a reason and it was the Man Upstairs' plan for me to have a baby at 38.

Hopefully, baby #2 (ssh, don't tell Joe) will come along before I'm 40!!! OH MY GOD, am I really that close? Oh geez, I'm going to be sick .....

Debbie, thats nothing to get stressed out about. My parents had me, mom @ 36 and dad was 42. and they turned out to be great parents, LOL. I think you'll be a wiser and better mom They also say that theres a greater appreciation for (hate to use this word) 'older' parents, for their children. Or maybe a different outlook...
ok, i babbled enough.
Anyway, Debbie, IM SOOO HAPPY FOR YOU !
So do you want your kids to learn Italian, I forgot who spoke it in your family, the inlaws ?

Re: How old were you...

Anna, you crack me up!! I used to let the age thing bother me, but it's not worth it. I know that I'm 100% ready (if that's at all possible) to have aq baby and I'll try to be the best parent I can be! My father was the same age as your's when he had me!! My mother is much younger then my dad!

Yes, I would love for my kids to learn Italian -- unfortunately nobody really speaks it fluently anymore, so I would send them to school to learn it. That's the mistake my father made, he never taught us at home because my mother wasn't Italian, but I would understand it when my aunts spoke it. I can get the 'gist' of what's being said, but not certain dialects. I understand it more then I can speak it (have a major hangup about speaking it because of my uncle -- here goes a tangent -- I came home from school thinking I was all that because of what I learned in Italian, and I must have said something wrong and he started in on how they don't know what they're doing in this country and how Italy teaches the kids much better, blah blah blah, so from that day on, I don't speak it very much to people who are fluent in it). I know the good words!! LOL

Forget about Joe, he makes fun of me when I say something in Italian (9 times out of 10 cursing about something) and then the next thing, I hear him saying it!!! He's clueless!

But we are thinking of Italian names -- his friend said to him 'I see you're going guinea all the way' that cracked me up!!! How can I go with some American name with our last name? It would sound funny, although my nephew insists my baby's name is going to be CODY!!! My fav is Gianna or Daniella and he's like 'that doesn't ring any bells', well excuse me but your last name isn't ringing any bells for me either, but I'm using it!!!

See, Anna, you're not the only one who goes off on major tangents!!!

Debbie, love the tangents, keep em coming !! LOL.
I LOVEEE both of those names !!!!
Joe is too funny, doesnt ring a bell ? LOL.

Your tangent remind me of a story. We used to always write cards and letters to my grandparents and friends in italy. in dialect, or whatever italian words we can put together on paper (of course now im pretty good from all those years of funny italian-i get a kick out of reading the letters!!)
well my friends used to point out the errors and laugh at us, id tell them 'lemme see YOU write ME a letter in English !!!
that shut them up real quick. all they can say is
'you speak EEN-GLEESH ???' once a tomboy friend of mine was hanging out, and my cousins from australia were also in italy, so my Aussie cousin goes 'is this a boy or a girl ???' and my tomboy friend goes ' AY EM A GUHL' in her best English voice.... we laughed so hard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOPSY DAISY !!! but shes used to that because she literally looks like a boy !

My tangent beat your tangent, NA NA ---NA NA NA (sticks tongue out)

ok gotta get to work on this **** paper.

MANNAGGIA !!!

I concede to you on this tangent, but watch out, I'll come out with a few to knock your socks off!!!

Go write that paper!!!!
