How soon before your wedding do you typically send out STD's?
I'm getting married on 10/9/11. Should I send them out towards the end of this year or beginning of next year?

We sent ours out 9 months before.
I wouldn't send them out until you are at least the year mark...jmo

Me and my FI were debating when the appropriate time frame should be. We're probably gonna send them out in Jan of 2011. How long do STD typically take to get done if you are doing them yourself?

In your case I would send them out the end of January. You don't want your STD to get mixed in with holiday cards...

I sent mine out at the end of Sept, so a year away. I wouldn't send them any sooner then that.

We ended up sending ours out roughly 7 months prior although I was going for a bit further. I agree in your case January is better because of holiday cards.
In terms of how long it all depends on how intricate your save the date is. Definitely leave lots of time for trial runs, getting samples, etc.

6-12 months before..... honestly i think 12 months should be if youre having a destination wedding or if you have a ton of out of town guests.... most send them out 7 to 10 months before.... im sending mine out at the end of the month/beginning of march, so around 8 months before
