Is there a general time frame that its usually done?

I obviously am not preg. or do I have a child, but DH and I were talking about this the other day. I think it's whatever is the best time for you.

I was baptized at 3 months. When we have a child we will probably baptise him/her before I go back to work which would be w/in 3 months. My aunt/uncle baptized their son at almost 8 months and my friend's daughter was 6 months. I think it's your choice!

Oh, my inlaws said you do it right away like within a month.

Mostly when it's good for you. I'm working on this now & he'll be about 2 1/2 -3 months. Most people I know did it around the 3 month mark. There is a big superstition in some cultures to have it down right away just in case something happened the soul would be blessed. (I think that's how I heard it)

Caiden's Baptism is this Sunday and he'll be 2 months on Sunday.

We had Lukes when he was about 3 1/2 months, I'd probably hav done it sooner but since he was born the end of October, I figured we'd wait till after the Thanksgiving/Christmas crunch time was over. Baby #2 will be born end of July, I think we'll probably do it beofre Labor day.

BTW, Luke was the youngest child when he got baptized - the other 2 kids were a few months older. And my nephew is Luke's age and they just baptized him in September (11 months old) so I dont think it matters but I prefer an earlier baptism.

Ryan was 3 months when we did it. However, both my parents and in-laws were freaked out by how 'late' we did it!! I was baptized at 6 weeks and my DH was also baptized within the first 2 months. I think for our parents it had to do with a certain comfort level - i.e. God forbid something happened to the baby, we want the child baptized...does that make sense?

You can do it any time you are comfortable!! I don't believe there are any hard and fast rules.

Molly was 8 weeks old. I scheduled the date prior to her birth.

Sue, years ago we were all baptized 'right away' in case 'God forbid'. I know my sister was baptized at 2 weeks old, and I was baptized twice -- since I was a preemie, I was baptized in the hospital right away and then when I was a month old (after I came out of the hospital).

I baptized Gianna at 3 months -- I wanted to do it sooner (before I came back to work), but I couldn't get the church.

You do it whenever you want -- there is no 'set' time. If you plan on going back to work, my word of advice to you is to try and do it before because it can become stressful (especially if you come back to work around the holidays).

I can't believe you're almost due! It seems like you just announced it, but then again I've been out of the loop for awhile here. Hope you're feeling well.

We baptized Mia at 3 1/2 months that's because we wanted the same priest who married us to baptize the baby and he was on vacation , uhmm uhmmm retreat!

I don't think there is a set timeframe.

For my sister's first two children, they were both baptized before they were one month old. However, her 3rd child was baptized when she was 3 months old.

For my SIL, both her children were baptized around 8 months.

ME TOO, Deb! Except that I was 2 months old before I came home from the hospital.

As for Paul, he wasn't baptized until he was 4 months old, b/c I couldn't do it in CA, so we had to wait until we moved back to NY.

I guess it depends on how religious you are....we plan to when the baby is around 3-4 mos or so.

I wanted to do it right away. But we couldn't get it organized before Lent, we have to wait until May. I have brought Madeleine in a few times to be blessed... I know it sounds crazy... but that's just me!

Justin was 4 months. Mainly because he was born in December and I had the party at a restaurant overlooking the water so I wanted nicer weather -April it was!

I'm due at the end of May, so I hope to Baptize the baby before Labor Day so I can have close friends and family over for a backyard party! So I guess about 3 months.

My family said that until a baby was baptized you did not leave the house with them. This made it less likely that something would happen to the baby. Since the baptism was supposed to bless them, parents did not want to expose their children to anything that put them at greater risk 'God forbid' until they were baptised. The general timeframe then was within a month. They last few I went to were for babies around 3 months. I just got an invite to one for a baby that will be 7 months by then.

My family does the baptisim very early. I was 3 weeks old when my mom had me baptized. When I have my baby he/she will be baptized ASAP
