depends, we registered 6 months after because people were asking us and we had an e-party. but we only registered for a few things, we'll do more in probably six months or so, in time for the bridal shower

I didnt register until almost a year after I got engaged.

we registered about a month after getting engaged, which was almost a year before the wedding. i wanted to wait a little longer because i didn't think it was necessary to register yet since the shower wouldn't be for awhile and to see what new things came out. However, DH's family loves to buy engagement gifts and kept bugging us and the in-laws about when we were registering, so we just finally did it.

you do it when you are comfortable. there is no rush at first, definitely at least 6 months before though. look at the stores or online and see what you like best. i would recommend at least 2 places, just so there is a variety of things, especially if you have out of town guests that send gifts. but if one place has everything you want, then go for it!

i dont plan on registering until like august'ish. my shower is gonna be in Nov so it will be about 4 months prior

i registered like a few weeks after getting engaged. Its a great thing to do so if someone wants to buy you a birthday present or xmas present they can just go off the registry.

im going to register around the 1 year mark, by that time we will be starting to look at houses which i feel like i need to know what the house will be like for the majority of the stuff im going to be registering for
